Hi

I have 2 hard drives, one 50gb and the other a new 320gb SATA harddrive.

I was using the 50gb as my primary hard drive since i updated my pc, but got so much stuff on it its nearly full and prob going to crash soon.

So I want to take out the 50gb and use my Sata one for primary hard drive. Im just wondering even though I have copied everything Oblivion to my external hard drive when I have reinstalled windows and the Bethesda Softworks program file does that mean I can still play from my saved game?

I got really far and starting again is aload of messing around.

Copying 'Everything' oblivion, should NOT include the actual game itself as you will have to reinstall that anyway.

The game includes: Oblivion.exe, OblivionLauncher.exe,Oblivion_Default.ini and launcherMusic.Wav. The other3 or 4 files are so small they don't make much difference and are not changed when you play. 2 .txt files and 2 .dll files that will be recreated when you reinstall. They are atimgpud.dll binkw32.dll, readme.txt and Bethesda.txt. Everything else should be saved by copying it using a new name such as oldata for the \data folder and old_saves for the stuff in the Documents and settings section.

Copy the entire Oblivion\data folder. anything in the Bethesda folder that is not the game itself, everything in the Oblivion folder that is not the game itself.

And, the folder where your saved games are - that should be C:\Documents and Settings\user name\my documents\my games\oblivion.

Then wait until after you have reinstalled the game, and actually started and made one save, then install any official patches, make another save, install the DLC mods and Shivering Isles. start the game and make a save, patch SI if needed, start the game and make a save. THEN while you still have a clean game, make copies of the data folder with a new name and the oblivion folder in the documents and settings. DO BOT use the same names as you used before or you will overwrite those files.

Now, copy over all of the original stuff that you saved and you will have the game just as you left it, plus a spare clean save for when you need it.
