Getting Modeled weapon into the game?

Hello, I have a few weapons I made in 3ds Max. They are old and like 3k polys max made long ago for ut2004. They are the base non boned meshes only but I can rig them up as soon as I find out how it's done for this specific engine. Of course I will have to make new textures too but I just really am looking for a good requirement list of tools and things to do to get a weapon into the GECK. Things like what direction must they be facing, max polys, bone placement if any etc etc. I see so many nice weapons already made and in game and want to get some of mine in there too :D
