Mod Creation Question: Dealing with Maya models

Ok first, I'd like to mention that I've not made a mod for Oblivion aside from custom items (mostly adding enchants to already existing items, stuff like that).

 

Anyway, here's what I was wondering. I'm looking to make a sword of sorts--either a Chainsword from Warhammer 40k or something from Hellgate, or maybe even something from WoW. I got plenty of referance, so that's not a real problem, and I got Maya 2008 to work with so the models should not be a problem. What I don't know how to do is how to bring the model or textures into Oblivion once I'm done making them.

 

Any help would be wonderful.

 

EDIT: First render of a (rather bad looking IMO) OEB (Obsidian Edged Blade) from WoW is done.

Needs work still, but I'd appreciate some C&C on it.
