Farferello
I had a lot of mods before I started crashing to desktop and eventually when nothing seemed to fix it I decided to uninstall all mods and the game and everything else before reinstalling. I decided to try a New Game just using the few character aesthetic mods I planned on, as I started having trouble prior when I installed those types. The mods I used (not in list of load order) are: Nord Male Preset by Tair (I then followed and installed the lists of mods they used themselves to get the character in their screenshots)XCE - Xenius Character EnhancementSmooth Faces for Ladies and Gents (letting the files from this mod over-write the ones in Xenius as suggested by the Nord Preset creator) and rather than using the Apachii hair I used the Better Males - New Hairstyles Pack For Men (which replaces the vanilla hairs) and - More Hair Colors I tried looking into BOSS and it just lists the Preset and Hair colour options as unrecognized plugins. Under recognized plugins it lists skyrim.esm active andUpdate.esm Active - Contains dirty edits: 52 ITM, 1 UDR records. Needs TES5Edit cleaning. First time the game crashed just before you get off the cart at the beginning, second time it crashed when I was choosing hairstyles in the character creator. Next time I tried turning off the Preset and More Hair Colours plugins and I was able to get past the opening and into Riverwood. It was only when I left Riverwood after maybe half hour of gameplay to start my first little mission that I once again randomly crashed to desktop. Could the hairstyle replacer be responsible or XCE and smooth faces be conflicting? I've no idea what could be causing it. I've quit out of things like AVG/Firefox/Skype/etc and turned off any background processes that I could. I'm just baffled and rather frustrated. Does anyone have any ideas before I resort to uninstalling everything once more? I've made sure my sound/graphics card drivers are up to date also. I just don't know what might be causing it as I played before with mods that changed the map/lockpicking/perks/weight/etc (nothing that changed aesthetics for character) and that played fine. Eckss
I don't know the answer to your question, but since no-one else has replied, I can point you in the direction of finding out for yourself. Get TES5Edit, activate the program and load in all your Mods. You can then look at the changes they make in a spreadsheet style format and find the areas of conflict. Otherwise, the cause might be that 1 or more of the Mods you have hasn't been updated for Skyrim v1.8 in the CK. this also causes problems. The only solution in that case (ie the Mod hasn't been updated since the releas late last year of Skyrim Update 1.8 ) is to either stop using the Mod in question, or to update the Mod in the CK yourself. Good luck, I hope you can fix your problem.
Farferello
Thanks for the reply. I do have Tes5 and used it to clean the dirty edits on my Update one like BOSS suggested. Only thing with Tes is that only the Apachi hair shows in it, neither eye mod or newer face mod I'm trying does, so I'll just have to see how it goes for now. It's rather frustrating as I see other players using the same mods I'm using and they don't have the CTD's. But I'll keep trying, and alternating if I have too. Farferello
Okay, so I had a new game that was running well, only one crash from several hours of game play. I added a mod a few at a time, played a while then added more. This last time I added Vagabond Armour, Fur Hoods HD, two bat files that gave all ingots/ingrediants and A Quality World Map - with Roads. I crashed once on having to play fight Vilkas and then twice each time when I was in open space trying to run to the area to slay the Vampires in Bloodlet Throne. I had enabled logging in Papyrus and each time I had the following result: (000DC54E)].lvlpredatorscript.Enable() - "<native>" Line ? [ (000DC54E)].lvlpredatorscript.OnCellLoad() - "LvlPredatorScript.psc" Line 26[01/16/2013 - 10:44:58PM] [defaultSetStageTRIGSpecificActor < (0005C9F9)>] didn't trigger for base actor [ActorBase < (00000007)>] <> [ActorBase < (00029D96)>][01/16/2013 - 10:45:21PM] VM is freezing...[01/16/2013 - 10:45:21PM] VM is frozen I found something on here about the predatorscript line but I don't think I have any mods that alter AI behaviour scripts.
