Tsukika
Hello! I've done a clean installation of Skyrim on this computer. This computer has never had Skyrim installed on it before, at all, so there are no traces of previous installations or old saves or old mods. I installed the game with no DLCs and did not download a single mod. So, what we are dealing with here is JUST Skyrim. I started a new character, from the beginning, played for a bit until I was on my way to Whiterun. I get great performance with Skyrim using somewhat average settings; decent framerate, very few stutters, etc. Suddenly, though, when walking toward Whiterun after helping the Companions kill the giant, I get a crash to desktop, or CTD. I went and enabled my Papyrus logs, played through that part again (from a save just outside Riverwood), and crashed in nearly the same spot. This was my papyrus log at this point: [01/16/2013 - 08:19:46AM] Papyrus log opened (PC)[01/16/2013 - 08:19:46AM] Update budget: 1.200000ms (Extra tasklet budget: 1.200000ms, Load screen budget: 500.000000ms)[01/16/2013 - 08:19:46AM] Memory page: 128 (min) 512 (max) 76800 (max total)[01/16/2013 - 08:20:05AM] VM is freezing...[01/16/2013 - 08:20:05AM] VM is frozen[01/16/2013 - 08:20:06AM] Reverting game...[01/16/2013 - 08:20:22AM] Loading game...[01/16/2013 - 08:20:22AM] VM is thawing...[01/16/2013 - 08:20:36AM] error: DialogueRiverwoodIntroScene (000954D9): attempting to start event scoped quest outside of story manager.stack: [DialogueRiverwoodIntroScene (000954D9)].QF_DialogueRiverwoodIntroScen_000954D9.SetCurrentStageID() - "<native>" Line ? From what I've read, the LvlPredatorScript.psc should only be causing crashes if I've uninstalled a mod that affects creature AIs, but uninstalling a mod would require me to have installed a mod, any mod whatsoever, in the first place. Can anybody help me out a bit? Much love and thanks, in advance. <
Tsukika
If any further information is needed in order to assist me, I'd be happy to provide it. Please just let me know.
steve40
Your log is 100% clean for a vanilla setup. The "cannot enable an object with an enable state parent" errors are harmless and are normal script behavior. There's nothing in the log to indicate the cause of your crashes. Have you updated the game to v1.8.151? If you haven't, that could be the reason for the crashes. The original release was very buggy. If you modded any of the ini settings, particularly uGridsToLoad? Increasing uGridsToLoad can make the game very unstable.
Tsukika
I have, indeed, updated to the latest version, and the only .ini changes that have been made were the ones to turn on logging and these: fMagnetismStrafeHeadingMult=0.0fMagnetismLookingMult=0.0f1PArrowTiltUpAngle=0.0f3PArrowTiltUpAngle=0.0 so that my arrows go where I'm aiming. ripple
The papyrus log is not really a 'crash report.' Can you post your load order/mod list?
SalazarDrago
Hey yea i used to have ctds like that also...and sometimes the game engine will get stuck loading something that causes it to crash..think of it like two cars going out of control towards each other..even if you reload to before the crash..you will still crash...what has always worked for me is fast traveling to another location and then traveling back
Tsukika
The papyrus log is not really a 'crash report.' Can you post your load order/mod list? As I said in my first post: No mods, whatsoever. I'm aware that my papyrus log isn't a crash report, but I don't know how to read it, so I wasn't sure if there would be some clue there when I posted it that might help this be solved. --- In the meantime, I've started another whole new save, still with no mods, and the same exact location is still giving me this problem. Is there any other information that I can provide that might prove useful in helping me out?
Tsukika
Any additional help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not trying to be difficult, of course, but there's no reason I can see that this should be happening, and I would like to get it sorted out before I go about installing the mods I want to play with. ripple
If it's a 'clean install', then the only things I can think of: 1) What's your system specs? What graphic settings do you play on? 2) Since you have a papyrus log, I assume you made edits to your ini files. What sort of edits did you make in addition to enabling your papyrus log? 3) Download the Unofficial Skyrim Patch. If you have the DLC(s), download the Unofficial Patches for them too. See if that helps.
Tsukika
If it's a 'clean install', then the only things I can think of: 1) What's your system specs? What graphic settings do you play on?I meet Skyrim's minimum requirements and get great framerate with average-high settings. This error occurs, however, even with every setting as low as it can go. This was the first thing I tested. 2) Since you have a papyrus log, I assume you made edits to your ini files. What sort of edits did you make in addition to enabling your papyrus log?My only changes were to turn logging on and, shortly before that, to adjust the way that arrows fly. The specifics are mentioned a few posts up. When I began a second clean save to see if I crashed in the same spot, I started with an entirely new .ini file, with no changes, and still crashed. 3) Download the Unofficial Skyrim Patch. If you have the DLC(s), download the Unofficial Patches for them too. See if that helps.I've no DLCs installed, but I will give the Unofficial Patch a try with, again, a completely clean, new save.
