FPS drop after 5 mins -- Help!

Hey!

 

So, I've been playing SkyrimSE on PC for about 2 years now. I've modded it to hell and for the longest time, had minimal issues.

 

Starting a few months ago, I started having pretty bad fps drops. I'd go from a pretty solid 35 to 45 fps to about 10 to 15. I'd start a new game, everything would run smoothly for about 5 minutes, and then the fps would tank. Which is odd.

 

The first time this happened, I uninstalled the game and after reinstalling, it worked fine for another month or so. When the lag started up again, I uninstalled and reinstalled and it was good again but for a shorter period of time.

 

This last time, however, I reinstalled it, put all my mods back in, and the lag started up from the get-go after 2 to 5 minutes of playing. I wouldn't even have to change location. I could run around in the same spot for the five minutes and the fps would drop.

 

I recently uninstalled all my mods to see if anything would change but even on a vanilla game, the lag persists after a short period of smooth sailing.

 

I don't use a gaming pc but I've been gaming on this same laptop for years now without issue. This is a relatively recent problem.

 

I currently don't have any mods installed.

 

Things I've already tried:

• Uninstalling/Reinstalling
• Restarting my computer
• Removing mods
• Malware scan
• Disabled vsync

 

Any and all help is greatly appreciated! I'm not much of a computer whiz. Thanks a lot!
