Hi I'm a newb for computer things. My game lags severely when I install HD 2k textures. I think my computer should be able run it no problem. I built my 1st computer which I'm prood of

I wonder if there is system tweaks i can modify in the skyrim ini files to help improve or anything else I can do to help improve my experience. I have about 50 mods install. I also up my virtual memory on computer (think I'm using like 20Gigs of my HDD free space). Should simply upgrade one of my hardware parts below

Specs

CPU || AMD FX-6100 Zambezi 3.3GHz Socket AM3+ 95W Six-Core Clcked at 4.0GHz ( to me forever to do that)

RAM || 10 Gigs Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333

GPU || SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

Pretty please can someone help

I'm no pro, but a 2gb graphics card would help.

But before that, are you using the Catalyst manager to tweak graphics settings? Sometimes it's called AMD Vision Engine Control Center. You definitely should use it; certain things are handled better by your graphics card settings than Skyrim's settings. I don't have time to outline what settings to try, but if you google around, you should figure out what to do with it.

Thanks man I'll mess with the AMD setting

I have a minute now, so I just wanted to suggest a few things:

- In Skyrim's Catalyst profile (Gaming > 3D Application Settings > New Application/Save, and choose TESV.exe), I recently went from Super-Sample AA to Multi-Sample AA (top setting to bottom setting), and it allowed me to crank all my other settings. Might not allow that for yours, but it would certainly help.

- Make sure that you match the settings in Catalyst to the settings on the Skyrim launcher. For instance, if it's 2x Anti-Aliasing on the launcher, set it to 2x in Catalyst as well. Feel free to mess around with Edge-Detect or 2xEQ on Catalyst, but make sure Catalyst is set to the same number, and set to "Override application settings." Same with AF and other things; in general, you want to match all the numbers, but set Catalyst to override the Skyrim launcher settings. It won't technically override everything, but it still helps to set it that way.

- Speaking of anti-aliasing, it's pretty hard on Skyrim performance-wise, for very little improvement.

Actually, there's a mod with a pretty good settings tweak guide here:
