TehFluffyBunny Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 I just don't understand why it's doing this, I know what IS causing it... but not why. The problem is Dawnguard and I know this for a fact because I disabled it and loaded an earlier save and not one crash since. So I've been trying to get Skyrim working with Dawnguard ever since because I love this DLC and I really want it working. I've tried installing the unofficial patches (Skyrim, Dawnguard and Hearthfire.. might as well install them all lol) and cleaning Update.esm, Dawnguard.esm and Hearthfire.esm and I still get C++ runtime errors and random CTDs when I load up my good save and activate Dawnguard again... :c Is there no way for me to play Dawnguard? :C (I don't want to start a new character :/ I cba grinding those levels again >.>)
steve40 Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 (edited) Install one of these two packages, depending on whether you are using a 32 bit (x86) or 64 bit (x64) version of Windows. Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64) Also make sure that your video card driver is up to date. TehFluffyBunny Posted January 17, 2013 Author Posted January 17, 2013 I already have them installed... my graphics card is a GTS 250 1gb and yes I make sure I have the latest driver from GeForce.com. But it hasn't made a difference I'm afraid. I appreciate the feedback though ;) But the problem is still present :c
wwolf789 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I have the same problem, sometimes i can play for hours without ctd, but sometimes it takes only few min for it to crash. I'm not sure why is this happening. I had dawnguard installed for a long time and i never had this problem before! It could be some mod i installed few days ago idk :/ I read somewhere that if you just del you skyrim ini and skyrimpref problem would be gone, still need to try that out.
