spderweb Posted December 15, 2008 Share Posted December 15, 2008 Alrighty, I want to open the vault gear door with a terminal instead of the switch. I'm assuming i have to set the geardoor lock to needs key, to start. Or is it something else?Next, I tried changing the unlock script in the terminal to "mylink.activate" from "mylink.unlock" it compiled fine but nothing happened when i tested it out so clearly it doesnt work. If somebody could help me out with this, it would be much appriciated. I'm taking what i've learnt in the GECK tutorials for vault 74, and building my own vault with an interesting storyline involving the inhabitants and some raiders. spderweb Posted December 16, 2008 Author Share Posted December 16, 2008 I have the switch to activate the door already. this isnt the same thing. computer terminals work differently then the gear door switch.I actually have the one from 101 in my file inside the vault, working. the one on the outside of the hatch, i grabbed the static broken one, and made it look like somebody hotwired a terminal to it. WOOO!!!lostami is a genius!!!You mentioned the overseer desk opening via terminal. well it IS already activated via a terminal, just not a small computer. I had a look at what was is the script. and in place of unlock was this: setOpenState 1 so, easiest thing, just make a new base using one of the unlock terminals and change the end of one line.So you can make the door innaccessible, and when you activate the terminal, the door will trigger it's open animation.So now I have the vault door opening on cue, using a terminal. So awesome. I cant wait to release my Vault. It's gonna be called Vault: Numbers Rusted Offso keep a look out. wont be posted till after the new year since i'll be away for christmas, but i'll get it done for sure.
