KottonKing
I have the TES construction set and I am using the wiki website, http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Main_Page for help. However, it just goes on and on about how to do this and how to do that. It doesn't really teach about the functionality on the TES Construction set which I think if it did I would understand how to use it a bit more. If any one has any insight or direction they can give me it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
RGMage2
I know what you mean about the wiki. It's not that it isn't helpful, and if you can work your way through it, it would probably teach you everything you need to know. The problem I had with it was that it wasn't written specifically for me (no reason why it should have been  ), and the things I wanted to know about didn't exactly jump out at me.So maybe you've got the same impatience and short attention span that I've got. The way that I learned how to use the CS was just by getting in there and clicking on things to see what they did. Dragged things into the render window just to see if I could. Swapped meshes around. Went into the races and changed all the skills. Added spells to the berth signs. In other words, I made a real mess of almost everything I touched. But the end result was that I learned how to do the things I wanted to do, and I found that after poking around like that, I could go back and read the wiki and it made more sense to me, and I could find the things I wanted because now I knew what I was looking for. What I'm saying is Don't Be Shy about it. Just get in there and start doing stuff. Remember, nothing you do in the CS will make any permanent changes to the game. You can save all the esps you want, but you don't have to use any of them. :whistling:

bben46
Before you start making your own mods, and especially if you use this technique, you need to back up your entire data folder. The easiest way is to copy it with a new name to a different folder, such as: C:\Oblivion_backup\data_12-12-08 Use the date when you make the backup so you will know when it was done. That way if you make any mistakes that can't be undone, you will have a backup to fall back on.
colourwheel
I know this might sound silly... But The only problem i had when starting off with CS was just needing to clicking on the main ESM file. After I did that everything in CS just came almost natual for me. If this happens to be your problem in trying to get CS started for modding then This would be your 1st jump into using CS. I know it really sounds silly again, but after hours of reading tutorials, this part I somehow over looked Back when I wanted to learn about modding using CS..
