JonesenoJ
Hello, what is the deal with save crashes? Geck crashed after about an hour of modding, now I have my main esp file and this save crash, should I continue like normal with the save crash being a master or is there something else to do? Deleted31599505User
Maybe turn off auto-save options. NVAC may help in the future. If your save crashes then it is likely cannot be recovered. A long time ago I got into the habit of saving before I would enter a new space. For me the Ultra-Lux was always a spot for it to crash
JonesenoJ
I meant when geck crashes it creates a save file, I went into FNVedit and moved some stuff around from the savecrash.esp to my main.espalthough it didn't move the topics in quests. Deleted31599505User
Ah! My mistake. Maybe this will help --> I found the GECK Extender which (for me) sped things up and allowed me to keep it open longer. Good luck!
dubiousintent
As far as the very general topic of "crash save files" is concerned: such are usually for the purpose of helping developers diagnose why the crash occurred. It is not going to magically be "better" or free of whatever caused the crash. If that is your "best hope", then you are not saving your work often enough. The GECK has a tendency to "crash on an exhaled breath". Just because it saved does not mean it will load that save either. Something as simple as placing a "static object" can cause problems depending upon the circumstances. Work from a "mod free" version of the game. (Please see "Cause-2" of the 'Issue: GECK crashes upon editing a weapon' entry in the 'Common Problems with GECK' section of the wiki "Getting started creating mods using GECK" article.) "Save early, save often, keep lots of backups" was the most consistent advice for the GECK mod creator over the years. Nothing has changed in that regard. JonesenoJ
I think equipping head armor and previewing it might crash it if it doesn't fit but I will definitely be saving more often,
