styx31989
Just something I thought I'd try hahaI didn't get very far, though. When I created a new file for the sword in GECK, and assigned it a .nif file(model for the sword), it says that the nif file is too old or something. Is there any program or method to update current nif files so I can use it in Fallout? Thanks for any help : ) edit:hmmm..... maybe if I import it into a 3d program, and then save it again......not sure if that would work, but I'll see what 3d programs are out there and try it :)
jsnider193
I may be wrong but I thought I read somewhere that one of the lead in bytes for the nif is different then that for fo3. Might see if the gentleman who ported the rapier in the file section can elucidate this for you.

Khet
If you do this, don't release the mod. Making direct ports into Fallout 3 from any game (including Oblivion) is not allowed by Bethesda. If you made the models yourself however, it'd be allowed since it's your work BASED off of the originals.
styx31989
I'm trying to import a weapon made from scratch(a cool sword I downloaded).
Khet
Ah, I thought you meant taking the models that Bethesda made themselves. Anyway, I believe the latest Nif script for Blender can work with Fallout 3, so probably what you'd have to do is load up the Oblivion NIF, then export it as a Fallout 3 Nif (this will change the version to be compatible with Fallout 3)
styx31989
THANK YOU! I'll download blender now :D
Khet
Ah, and before you berate me for not being able to import even an Oblivion NIF with Blender you'll need the files linked here: http://niftools.sourceforge.net/forum/view...?f=3&t=1989 Fallout 3 Support for the Nifs are still very new so it might be rather buggy and whatnot, but it's better than what our only choices were before! styx31989
well, the conversion worked :) but when I try to add it to the game, it gives me a couple errors. I'll try using a simpler model this time...
