Completely unable to interact with Meeko

I have a new character that was trying to recruit Meeko for the first time. When I got to the cabin, he would not respond at all. I assumed this was the fault of this Meeko mod, Let Slip the Dog of War, however even after removing it, I still can't talk to Meeko at all. Not in his cabin, not outside his cabin, not even going to a totally different character save that already had Meeko. With or without that mod, with or without UFO, I can't talk to Meeko.

 

In my original game, I had UFO and Meeko working fine, then added the Dog of War which also worked except I couldn't give Meeko armor (which I didn't care about anyway, he's pretty dangerous enough as is). I liked the Dog of War mostly because it made Meeko an adorable German Shepard who understood stealth. I have no idea what update broke Meeko, but I'd really like to get him back for future games. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Is this even the right place?

Everything should be up to date. Skyrim is 1.8.151.0.7 and SKSE is 1.6.6 rel 34).

 

Right now, I am disabling all mods and verifying my game cache and trying again. Other than that, I am stumped.

Did you ever figure it out? I just dl the mod and meeko wont follow me. I read the journal after i talked to Meeko and followed him to the shack. I fast travel to solitude sawmill to see if hell follow me and i two other wolves following me now wtf?

2015 now and still this problem happens. Frustrating as hell as I can find no fixes what so ever

Same here it was the Let Slip the Dog of War mod. I have even gone as far as to go into the CK and reset all of his quests. And dialogue, it hasn't worked at all. On my game, when I look at him his name doesn't even show up. Like a wolf or something that can't be spoken to. But I have changed all of his factions etc... etc... Nothing is working.

Once this sort of worked, open the console and type in [set playeranimalcount to 0]. Sometimes even killing him with the command... kill and resurrecting him will work for a while. Because it seems to completely reset him. But none of those always works, just something to try I guess.

i have this same problem and i have similar mods. im unable to talk to any animal companions including meeko (who im still able to have following me cause i have him following vilja). i first noticed it cause i couldn't talk to dovahbit, a rabbit follower, after he traveled back home out of nowhere. has anyone found any fixes?
