Merging big mods!

Hi!

I love playing FNV with mods, but after a while (everyone will experience this sooner or later) you want to alter some mods so they really fit your playstyle...and because of that, your loadorder will get bloated and you try to get rid of most of the files.

I already tried that, but wasn't satisfied enough, because after some time I got annoyed with having too many different .esm (and ofc, try to find an error is still a pain in the arse :wallbash:)

My problem is: I have no Idea how to merge .esm files...or integrate one into another.

Eg.: I love Project Nevada, and I love Powered Power Armor. I would love to merge PPA into the equipment module of PN (and add some additional items)

Is there any chance this is possible?

Regards!

I'm sure it's possible, but it's not advised at all. Mods are separate for a reason. If you think you have trouble finding issues in your mods now, you don't know the headache of merging big mods like PN and PPA (I don't either because I'm not crazy enough to try).

You're much better off merging the smaller mods. Mods that add a weapon or two, maybe a house mod and a couple weapon mods if you feel like going wild. I would never suggest, nor even attempt, to merge any mod with more than about 30 - 50 records unless you absolutely know what you're doing.

If you're looking for mods to merge, try merging things like DLC patches into the main file, or a comprehensive DLC patch. I merged all my WMX DLC files into one file, since I have all DLC and don't need to load an additional 4 plugins for them.

You could also try, as I suggested above, merging single weapon mods, or smaller weapon pack mods, like Millenia's standalone weapons into one big mod for all of them.

If you do still feel like trying to merge big mods, do not expect, or really even post, issues to the mod's comments, as you have taken the mod beyond what the authors are even attempting to support. Trust me when I say that we have our hands full dealing with the troubles that arise from a known working mod.
