Drakulux
Hi this is my first mod so I have a problem. I have built a custop item, which is a binocular. I also created a custom scope view so you dont see a round scope view but instead you have a binocular view. I'v tried alot of tutorials, but my problem is that when I try to copy the branches into a Vanilla item I get some array too large error. So I'm at a stale point, if any veteran modders would like to help I can send over the files and we can get this done. Ofcourse credit will be given where due. Below are some pictures of the Binocular. Iv stuck to the post apocalyptic feel and I feel it definately fits into the lore. http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/9850/binofrontll4.th.jpg http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/9229/binobackzk0.th.jpg http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/1134/binotopqo8.th.jpg
Khet
The problem with Nifs and modding Fallout 3 is that Fallout 3 Nif version is completely different from Oblivion (Bethesda used their own modified NIF) and we really don't have much to work with right now. While the good folks at Niftools are working tirelessly to get things stable they're still running into some issues. Until then it won't be easy to make custom models. However, I'll do some looking a bit later tonight (taking a smoke break from watching House and just checking a few threads) and if I find an answer I'll get back to you ASAP. In the meantime, however, I'd suggest you do a quick google search for Niftools and check out their forums, the source of the problem might be found there though I don't know if a fix is available yet. Drakulux
Thanks For the quick feedback. I did check their forums as well but all tutorials use the same method of bringing in custom models. It might just be that a version of nifskope for fallout 3 is not available yet. I was planning on finishing this in 1 day,but now I cant. I was also planning on doing a backpack and flashlight, but those will have to wait till this problem has been solved. My ultimate project will probably be a unique metropolis with lots of new quests available but that will have to wait for now. Again thanks for the feedback, and if I can help with any modelling dont be afraid to ask :)
BanjoOz
I'm afraid all I can do is add my support... I am thrilled to see you working on this, though, as a lack of simple binoculars really annoys me! Looking forward to when you have the bugs sorted out (perhaps you should also talk to folks like Morealin or Vash here, who have successfully added new meshes to the game?). Oh, and I think your model looks fantastic... very Fallout! :D

Jared2500
Wow, nice model. I'm really looking forward to the backpack and flashlight. Maybe the backpack could be a container of some sort.

Maybe the backpack could be a container of some sort. Thats what I plan for it. It will probably add an extra 100 or 150 to carry weight. I dont want to go above this cuz its not supposed to be santa's magical sack
