Sun74
So I'm working on an armours and weapons mod using 3DS Max 2021 and the latest version of NIFSkope but I've run into a problem. I used BAE to extract all the meshes from Skyrim SE into a separate folder where I am trying to make armour fittings. I loaded up malebody_0.nif into NifSkope and followed this tutorial on how to use the mesh to fit the armour around but I use 3DS Max 2021 which doesn't have a NIFTool plugin that I can find. I decided to export the .nif as a .obj in NifSkope and import it into 3DS Max only for it to say that no mesh was detected. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong or what else I can do? Pixelhate
The .obj export in NIfSkope is broken, not reliable. Most people using 3D Max to work on nif use an older version. So does Blender users.
WoyxProshots
Apologies for the necro but this is still a very relevant topic. I also am using 3DS Max 2021 and have been struggling to find any sort of work-around into being able to get Skyrim's meshes imported. Does anyone have any ideas because at this point I am very lost. I'd much prefer not to have to return to Blender 2.49.
thousande
Try BodySlide and Outfit Studio instead of NifScope for the obj export task. Not sure what is broken in NifScope but BS/OS is still being updated now and then. Else there is a project named ck-cmd which is a command line utility for nif-ify the fbx format. Not sure the other way around.
djinghis
Yes "BodySlide" http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/201 has inside "OutfitStudio" which can import and export obj/fbx and nif.You may also need a utility to sanitise nifs for SE http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/4089 and you may still need Nifskope to fix more complex meshes.Consider it a workaround of a workaround with a fix of a workaround.
