zanderisdumb
Hey guys, Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help me out. I just did a fresh install of Skyrim a few days ago and it has been randomly CTD. It doesn't seem to be time specific, so I'm guessing it may be an issue with my load order. For system specs: (MSI GT683 gaming laptop)2.2ghz i7Nvidia GTX570m gpu12gb ddr3 1333Windows 8 Entire HDD was wiped and a fresh OS install was done about 12 days ago. All drivers are up to date. All mods installed are fresh downloads as well. I ran BOSS and here's my list. These plugins are recognised by BOSS and have been sorted according to its masterlist. ripple
1) There is a compatibility patch for WiC and CoS. But the issue with these mods in your load order is.... Cloaks - No Imperial.espNote: Use only one cloaks*espCloaks - Player Only.espNote: Use only one cloaks*esp 1nivWICCloaksCRAFT.espWarning: Use only one WICCloaks esp.1nivWICCloaksNoGuards.espWarning: Use only one WICCloaks esp. As stated in the mod descriptions and in the BOSS log, pick one of each. If you pick a plugin that does not distribute the cloaks to NPCs via outfit record edits, then you won't need a compatibility patch. If you do want NPCs to spawn with cloaks (from either mod), then you would need the compatibility patch (which merges the conflicting outfit records), and then use Wrye Bash to generate a Bashed Patch which will merge the conflicting leveled lists. 2) The BOSS log has informed you that several esp's in your load order needs cleaning, so follow the link, download TES5Edit, and the instructions on that page to clean the esp's flagged by BOSS as containing 'dirty edit.' 3) CTDs: are they outdoor or in interior cells? Was there any pattern to them at all (you had many followers, was crafting, near places where certain mods had placed extra spawns or spawn points, etc.)? CTDs: I'm only level 4 with this new character and haven't had the chance to visit too many places yet so I don't know whether it's happening inside and outside or not. All CTDs have been outside so far. BOSS cleaning: I've read that cleaning of the unofficial updates is a big no no. Is that true or can they be safely cleaned along with all of the other dirty edits? I'm using the patch for WIC cloaks and capes, and have both of them set so that NPCs will spawn with them. I haven't used Wyre Bash to create a patch yet though. zanderisdumb
Ok so I went through and cleaned all the dirty edits and now am not getting any dirty edit errors. I am however still receiving bash tag edit suggestions. I'm not quite sure how to use wrye bash to relev, delev my mods. I asked my friend Google, but he didn't have much more than heresay and some technical jargon that I'm apparently too dumb to comprehend effectively. ripple
1) For the two cloak mods, if you want the cloaks to spawn on NPCs, just remove all the optional plugins and use only the default plugin and the compatibility patch. The Bash Patch will handle the conflicting leveled lists. The optional plugins are for people who do not want the cloaks to appear on NPCs (like 'craft only' and 'no imperials or guards will spawn with cloaks.' If that's not what you want, remove those plugins. Otherwise, choose only one of them as noted by BOSS and the mod descriptions). 2) Most of the time, you don't really need to worry about the Bash tag suggestions. Most popular mods requiring Bash tags have already been properly tagged by the authors, but you can double check by going to the right bottom panel of the Wrye Bash screen after you highlight an esp, which will then display any Bash tags attached to the esp. You should highlight the official DLC esm's and check to see if they've been properly Bash tagged. If not, then right click on the bash tag window, and put a check mark beside the proper tag as recommended by BOSS. After you are done, rebuild your Bashed Patch, then your ReProccer patch, and you are ready to go. I recommend starting a new game too with your new clean load order, just to ensure you don't encounter any crap that might have been baked into your savegames from the dirty edits, but it's not essential. 3) CTDs: mods that add more spawns and spawn points to the worldspace will make worldspace travel inherently more unstable (how much more depends on what they add and how much of it they add). This is not the fault of the mods, but a limitation of the engine. It's why the default game suffers from a 'depopulation problem' (because Bethesda does not want players to know the game engine is aging poorly). So, mods like Warzones and Immersive Patrols (although Warzones much more than Immersive Patrols). You could consider removing some of the 'more outdoor spawns' mods to try and stabilize your game. Remember to always rebuild your Bashed Patch and ReProccer patch after you alter your load order. Edited January 23, 2013 by ripple
