Vegas is not dead. We may make a new name but I don't think dead will be part of it. The city will actually have a lot of people living in it. It won't just be a war zone there will be towns caught in the middle of it (being taken over and taken back and constantly shifting sides)

BTW I think I will include the Hover Dam in the mod. It will be beat up but still working (all ramshackle and patched up) the water level will of course be much lower.

Also the desert will be more like the Sahara beacuse the bombs fell all around the area and killed everything off (which has been turned to dust and the explosions have kicked up a lot of dust and made a more sandy environment)

I donno about adding the hover dam..maybe make it optional because i'm sure something like that will be extremely heavy on a low end computer. So i'm saying make it another dlable file. I am liking the hoover dam idea though. Or maybe make it that the hoover dam is destroyed and the water break caused a huge lake and you finid a large community of people or maybe mirelurks and I don't know, or maybe even mutants..so many things you can do. If it were mirelurks, could be a quest to kill them all if there are mutants..maybe the humans could want them dead or when you first get there humans or mirelurks are attacking the town and you can get good karma for killing the attackers and the survivors would give you what they have and you could loot the bodies, or you could kill all of them. Or the mutants could be slaves for the humans and working to rebuild the dam and you could either help the mutants or tell the humans and either way you get to kill a lot of people :D. Can't wait for the release of this, kudos ;)

or you could do a half destroyed hoover dam. Where you wander up on a group of people fighting off a group of mirelurks charging up the side's of the damm. You could make it a junkie village with a few un-screwed up folk's and some realy cool drug dealer types for some more quest's in town and out. Maybe some stoner's want to make it where everyone can eat and smoke and the jet head's just want the jet!

Didn't know if you had fore knowledge of this, but Hoover Dam is mentioned in the Van Buren docs (just in case you wanted to integrate elements of it into the story for your mod).

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Hoover_Dam

Vegas is also mentioned in Fallout 1, but it is brief:

"Las Vegas was been mentioning by Tycho's father, who was also a Desert Ranger in Nevada. According to his memory, a fat mobster, similar to Gizmo from Junktown, used to live in Vegas. In the Fallout PNP game Las Vegas is home to the Church of the Mushroom Cloud, a cult which partakes in radiation baths and bleeding rituals, it has been suggested that the Children of the Atom may be a more peaceful offshoot or denomination of this church."

Hope this helps.

Well I just took a good look at the Wiki. The BlackIsle fallout 3 was going to have a lot of really cool places. The dam is a very cool place we will have to integrate that in. I looked at all the locations the canceled project was going to have and there is a lot of inspiration there. I really like the Boulder dome. I also like the space station, maybe we could work that into the story. Maybe instead of the matter transporter we have a space vehicle to get to the missile launch satalite. Anyone with control of a nuke dropping satalite would be all powerful, maybe the signal detected in DC was the bad guys trying to signal the satalite.

There are a few other projects involving old fallout locations that I know of that are making the rounds, so to avoid doing duplicate work, you might consider contacting the people involved...

Boulder, Denver, Brighton areas of Colorado: http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.ph...&hl=boulder

Tribal village in the Rockies which is incorporating the GTS mod (Seems fairly canon neutral as it doesn't really involve any old locations, just an original one in Colorado)

non english (german or finnish, I'm not sure): http://www.falloutnow.de/fn/index.php?topic=4043.0

OP name on "http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/" is: Torian Raven

New Reno (This one has gone quiet, but the OP is supposedly doing this all on his own until the basics are settled, then he intended to open the mod to other people to work on. The only wip pictures released are early but promising): http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.ph...930949&st=0

That's all I have off the top of my head, so I hope the info isn't too ambiguous.

Ooohh or maybe an orbital elevator? I have no idea what the practical implications of making/maintaining one would be, but the oldschool game Syndicate Wars featured one to bring your team of crack cyborg agents onto an orbiting space station, which then was used as a base for a lunar assault. I know that game has a completely different setting from Fallout with more high tech stuff, but I think it's an interesting alternative to teleporters or old spaceships and would fit right in there with the SCIENCE! theme of Fallout. :)

Whether a device like that would have avoided nuclear destruction is questionable, though not more far fetched than, say, finding a working teleportation device or spaceship in working order. It would however fix the question of how you'd be able to travel back and forth as you'd like, as it would be very resource economic compared to shooting a spaceship into orbit every time you wanted to go to space.
