SpeedyB64
kennyimpala you live in Vegas. That's awesome! I will definitely have a lot of questions for you when I get to making the city districts themselves.
dragonpen61
Please see Posts #268 and #269 SpeedyB64, do you like the armour (it being a second try of many to come) and can you use this or work like it in future in your mod? I can always continue the Eco-Cult stuff separately and do something more Vegas oriented if you want. No crazy colours! Otherwise I will just move onto other mods now asking for people writing and doing textures. Also can you recommend me some good meshing tools? I am trying blender but am told there should be some better programs out there, either free or hopefully affordable. I am also doing other things to expand my modding skills such as the 'vault tutorial' and studies on texture. How ever it goes, I look forward to using your mod because I think it should be great. Love the
SpeedyB64
dragonpen61 I use 3ds Max, its the best modeling program. Unfortunately its very expensive (the new one, you may be able to find a cheaper older version on the internet) So far what I can see in your screen shots is the same simple texturing I do (Recolouring and cut and pasting) I'm more inclined towards someone who can make textures from scratch.Good luck with learning Photoshop there are a lot of good tutorials out there. Some of the ones I learned from:http://www.kirupa.com/motiongraphics/metal_texture.htmhttp://www.fstutorials.com/tutorial/photos..._photoshop/7789http://www.fstutorials.com/all_tutorials/http://archibase.net/textures?category=0&page=2401http://www.idotutorials.com/2008/10/25/pro...and-navigation/http://www.eyesondesign.net/pshop/rust/texture.htm Rust tutorial
dragonpen61
Thank you for your advise and I still look forward to using your mod in future. I will try to learn how to do textures from scratch. As for my armour, I always meant it to be just a new colouration of an old power armour with a variety of symbols added, some basic changes, more of which I intend to do as I learn more. I did more than just cutting and pasting or colouration as I used leveling, blending, filtering and other photoshop effects to try to make the armour look different from others in the game. All my efforts to send you good pictures failed because of my inexperience with forums. I reviewed my pictures and, sadly, they look little like the power armour I use in the game. The armour looks only best when worn and viewed in use because screenshots never seem to do it justice, for example how it seems to react to light differently than other power armours (and I have used in game all the main kinds of power armour.) and how certain symbols show up only clearly from various angles while playing. As for basic texture changes, I think they have a big place in modding and would like to see more of it done. Also I believe in lateral approaches; more complicated is not always better. For example I liked some of the basic texture changes to armours that newbie modders have made because the armours looked better. I would welcome mods made up of a lot of well designed basic texture changes for Fallout 3 because they would change the whole feel of the game. Surprise improvements can occur; moderately brighter colours make enemies stand out more and improve appearances of many interior spaces. More elaborate armours will have to wait for the future. Still, thanks As soon as I can I will be releasing my first beta mod and then you can of course judge for yourself how well I have advanced with my skills. Am I able to access your wiki site, if you have one, and how do I do it? I simply want to keep track of what is going on best as I can as part of interest in your project and a chance to learn more. I have learned already just by reading your past progress reports. Good modding!
superdewd
This mod sounds awesume! and I like the Area 51 idea thats hot! I'd like to see the Area 51 base with a few saucers and subtrainian faciltys to explore under area 51 with you guessed it some "aliens" to blast. Maybe a few human survivers could be in the subtrainian parts of the base. And some gouls "radiated personel" roaming the base. Also a quest to do at Area 51 would be fun. SpeedyB64
dragonpen61 I'll check out the beta when it comes out.As for the site, I still need to figure out how to adjust permissions so that people can see some things but not others unless they are given permission. That way not just anyone can download out WIP files. superdewdArea 51 will have a few quests in it, it will be a huge mostly underground facility wit a few different factions living and fighting in it. There will be aliens and there will be cryo pods you can open and aliens will come out and attack you with alien blasters. (I will have to get permission from the guy who rigged the alien)
