Update: This weekend I will be adding an arena to the silos lower class district exhaust tunnel. This arena will kick the $h!t out of the Oblivion one, more ranks unlock better weapons to use, team battle, capture the flag, One on one death combat, different fight modes (big/small guns, knife fight, unarmed, energy, custom) and some interesting twists tossed in. I plan on making it HARD it will be barely survivable on very hard. The ceiling will be some sort of super plastic or something with spectators in the stands.

Wow... awesome! :ohmy: And here I was thinking it was going to be difficult just to throw in a boxing arena in Vegas.

 

I'm thinking Act I might not be done by the end of the day, but I'll do my best. I'll be uploading it to the wiki when it's done. If you hate surprises and don't want to wait until we're all done and have a working release, you can pm me for the draft of Act I dialogue tree.

It will take a lot of scripting but I hope to get a very rough version done by the end of the weekend.

 

The kind of feeling I'm going for is the player steps into the arena and goes "holy $h!t this is intense!"

 

I have been decorating and placing objects for a long time so I decided I needed a change so I might as well do something awesome!

I have some info on the silos you might find interesting

When you arrive at the silos they will send you packing unless your speech is good enough. If you fail at talking your way in I will make several ways to sneak in, one being through a manhole and into the delapitated remains of the base. I will also make some hidden and unusual ways in (like through a wasteland shack's basement, maybe the nearby talon base fort banaster) I will also make some shifty characters that can smuggle you in.

 

Also here is some story on the brotherhood guys hanging out front in the crater. They came there looking for the technology following a rumer that the hidden city had access to advanced technology (the missile base was state of the art and just completed when the bombs fell) They asked if they could buy some tech but it was not for sale (at the time they had a bit of a shortage) so they asked if they could borrow some for study, they where turned down (the people in the silos are isolated so all they know of the brotherhood is rumers. At some point one of the initiates they brought for training decided to steal some which resulted in a shootout. So you could join the brotherhood guys and help them get in by sneaking in the back way or by resolving the matter with words.

 

Nothing is final though (accept that you will be denied entry at first)

Yayyyyy! :thumbsup: :biggrin: The basic mechanics of the arena are working! I talk to the guy, ask about the arena, he tells me, I say "sign me up" (3 different ways ;) ), he says ok, I say "ready to fight" he says stuff about the battle, I say "I'm Ready", Loading screen appears and get teleported to the equipment room (all your stuff is stored in a cabinet), I take the weapon and armor, I activate the door and go to the arena, the gate opens and the opponents start walking toward you (Its just a straight room atm) I kill the guys (barely), I leave the arena and tell the guy I am ready for another match and I fight the second match and it all works! :biggrin: All I have to do now is add more people to fight and fix a few little things and decorate the place (and totally redo all the models and add crowd and announcer sound, lights, people banging on car hoods make it very energetic).

 

My arena scripts and quests are very expandable and flexible so it is easy to add twists and stuff like that.

I am just making all the combatants and refining the way the mechanics feel (trying not to brake emersion with too many teleports, atm when you start a match you are teleported to the equip room and the door is just a prop I hope to make it so that the door itself runs the script not just get teleported). But anyway I designed the scripts for easy expansion and to be very modular.
