fooflinger
Does a mod exist where vendors...Actually sell useful things? Through modding, I've been able to completely rebalance my games economy, and make every septim gained feel like an accomplishment. The problem that still exists is NPC vendors...They just don't sell anything other than weapons/armor that was barely useful 20 levels ago. Are there any mods that add more variety to what vendors sell? I'm all for crafting but I'd like to be able to spend my hard earned money on something other than a house or a horse. jack013
i think you'd need to clarify useful here. there's economics of skyrim that makes the vendors sell things based on location. as far as i know the vendors sell everything either way. As of right now, vendors sell weapons and armor that are about 15 levels behind in usefulness. Would be cool if Vendors sold armor and weapons that'd actually improve my character, such as glass or ebony and the like, or perhaps even a mod that incorporates armor from immersive armors and other mods into the vendor cataloge (if that exists). Weapon/Armor shops are completely useless to me right now, with the exception of the occasional rare ore.
jack013
ebony and glass armour should start showing up between level 30 and 37.
matortheeternal
You can get Skyrim Scaling Stopper, which will make things unscaled (items, and enemies). This will make merchants able to sell you stuff at any level. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9857 You can also get Economics of Skyrim. With it you can adjust the buying/selling price of items until it is such that you can appreciate it. (I personally think selling items should net you decent gold, but buying should cost you a lot). It also makes it so you have to rent out workstations (you don't really think merchants are just gonna let you use their stuff for free, do you?). In addition, it gives you the capacity to pay a merchant for a service (enchanting or smithing). I feel like this makes SO much sense. Merchants mention providing their services to other folk throughout the game, but you never get to take advantage of it in vanilla. 2000 gold for max level grand enchantment. I think the max level factor is a bit OP for enchantments, but asides from that I love this feature. It makes earning gold make more sense and allows you to make realistic master-difficulty characters that don't specialize in smithing/enchanting. If you combine Economics of Skyrim with Skyrim Scaling Stopper the "powerful"/"rare" weapons and armor will be harder to find (as most merchants won't carry it because of area resources) so it won't be like every merchant will have full Daedric Armor leaping out at your face from the beginning of the game. To give you an idea of how these mods work together- I've been going through a new playthrough with a illusion/conjuration mage type character. I'm level 10 and I've had enough gold to get an Ebony Dagger, upgrade it to Superior quality, and put a Grand level fire enchantment on it. I'm currently broke, but my gold was well-spent. I'm not too OP as most things still kill me in a few hits, and the scaling stopper makes many enemies very difficult. However, I still thing the max level enchantments are a bit OP. Anywho, here's a link to Economics of Skyrim: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11919 (Make sure you use the coin in your inventory to activate once you've installed it!) Edit: Economics of Skyrim reduces the occurrence of pre-enchanted weapons/armor in merchant's inventories as well, which is nice. fooflinger
ebony and glass armour should start showing up between level 30 and 37. Thanks, that sounds like an excellent solution. Kudos!
