You know, I feel the man bush has softened a bit, been utterly gracious, and there's nothing left to grasp for, he's had his run in the sun. Or maybe I know it's nearly over and a new day approaches, that I've, myself, softened toward him. It's done and there is no undoing. Nine years ago, 8 years ago, the mounting weight I felt in my heart and the awful feeling in the pit of my stomach, I knew all of what was to come could have been avoided. I could see what was coming, clearly. But not enough could see that far. Let's hope we can salvage some kind of better world out of the shambles. But I worry we have not learned our lessons...
