Xaikarik
So tomorrow is the big day :) I've been without skyrim for 2 weeks now but my rig is due completion tomorrow here's the specs. Phenom II x4 3.6 quad core processor 8 gb ramATI radeon hd 3000 500 gb hdd (for media)160 gb hdd (operating system) I'll be running windows 7 ultimate 64bit and I'm aware the intergrated graphics will hold me back but that's until my 2gb saphire card arrives. I'm just excited to finally be able to play again ! Any thoughts on this SPEC?

Xaikarik
Sorry about the insanely late reply, just ordered it today, its a radeon hd 6570 2gb ddr3 any good?
FiftyTifty
No. It's awful (as far as gaming is concerned). To game at a reasonable state, an HD 6670 DDR3 is the minimum. Also, the graphic cards below the HD 6850 and HD 7770 are unable to utilize the 2gb of DDR3 Ram. If the 1GB model is cheaper, get it; the cards run out of grunt before they run out of VRAM. I have a 6670 DDR3. Had to do a few tweaks (Disabling shadows, mainly) to get Skyrim to game at 1152x864 (A bit above 720p) @ 40fps steadily. Even with more spawns and max draw distances, so I found the tradeoff of shadows for smooth, fun gameplay, to be a no-brainer. Also, the GDDR5 versions of graphic cards are between 10-30% faster than the DDR3 version. For the 6670, the GDDR5 variety is between 10-20% faster than the ddr3 variety, and they cost the same on some sites (In the UK). Ideally, you would get something along the lines of a 6850 or a 7770 for gaming. Anandtech has a host of benchmarks should you be curious. They don't list cards that are slower than the 6670 GDDR5, due to them not being considered gaming cards, however.
Xaikarik
I've seen the hd 6570 working with skyrim and it didn't look bad at all, to be honest I've jumped from my old machine being Dual core processor at 2.4NVIDIA geforce 1gb intergrated 4 gb ramVista To Phenom II x4 quad core 3.48gb ramRadeon hd 6570 2gb dedicated Windows 7 ultimate 64bit It really can't be worst than my old machine right? FiftyTifty
Oh, it's a major jump. The thing is, for £10-£20, you can turn that major jump, into a gigantic leap. As I said: A 6670 GDDR5 will be a vast improvement (40-75%, if memory serves) over the 6570 DDR3. And the price difference is £10-£20, depending on which model of 6570/6670 you are getting. Xaikarik
I'll be happy if I can run it on medium to be honest with a decent fps :) not lookin to game on ultra, just so its a bit pretty and playable :)
FiftyTifty
Medium? If you forget the AA, AF and shadows, it'll be playable, with the 6570.
