Laser Rifle Model texture issue

I have had this problem since the beginning of fallout 3 modding. If someone could end the madness for me it would be greatly apreaciated.

I am trying to simply apply a new texture to the following

laserrifle01.dds

1stpersonlaserrifle02.dds

I have tried the following with repeted falure.

  1. Using Nifscope I applied the values of the texture paths. after doing so I created a new form using the original laser rifle as a tamplets. It looks ok in the editor and I assumed it was working. But When I went to test in game. It showed the same texture of the original laser rifle.

  2. This time I added the textures in the geck and applied them to a copied form of the laser rifle once more. The vanilla Laser Rifle apears in game again.

  3. For this try I edited the Hex values of the NIF and changed the paths making sure they were where they were supposed to be. The same model appears in game of the vanilla Laser Rifle.

Please Help, I have been struggling with this for a long time now and modding does take up allot of time. I would sure appreciate.

dont forget to change the 1stperson texture and model...

There is only one model and I have both textures changed to my custom texture. There sizes and format is appropriate as I can view them in the editor with the change. The problem is getting them to work within the actual game.

if yo have FOMM /fallout mod manager) theres an entry called WEAP in your mod... open it... look for your rifle and delete its stat and txts entry as well as the wnam entry somewhat deeper in the tree

these 3 define the 1stperson model and texture... if you just change the model youll still use the old texture...

i dunno if its somehow possible to do that in the geck aswell...
