Intensity1 Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 I'm working on a new CM partner for Oblivion and I need to create a custom face texture. I've made characters before, but not with custom body parts. The new face shows up as dark blue (inverted colors?) in the CS. I've made a custom race just for that character (a copy of Breton if I remember) and everything works great up to this point. I just need to add a mole to the face texture. I converted headhuman.dds to targa using ddsconvert, added the mole, saved under a new name and converted back. I didn't edit the normal file, just copied and renamed from headhuman_n.dds. When I load the new face into the race's face data it comes up blue-black. Anyone know what I'm missing?
Intensity1 Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 This guy had the same problem:http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1090626-custom-race-texture-problems/page__hl__black+face__fromsearch__1 I've tried all the formats from dxt1 to dxt5, though, and it doesn't help.
ShadowboltWings Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Why convert it? Get a dds plugin for whatever photo editing software you use (I use the gimp, it's freeware and has a dds plugin) and alter it directly.
Intensity1 Posted January 30, 2013 Author Posted January 30, 2013 Tried that first, but the plug-in crashes gimp on start-up.
Intensity1 Posted January 30, 2013 Author Posted January 30, 2013 Turns out Gimp's got a new version, so I updated to 2.8 (I had 2.6) and now the plugin works and so does the face. Funny. Thanks for the advice, ShadowBoltWings.
