Karthwasten...we have a problem!

I have a funny but annoying problem with Karthwasten and around the village. Once I walked the path between the Blind Cliff Cave and Karthwasten I've got a CTD. I started the game again...same thing again...CTD. I did start once or twice more, then suddenly a dragon fell from the sky...dead. No...not deadly dragon...the dragon was dead, when he fell from the sky. I've got a dragon soul without a fight. So...until there it was all funny, because after that, the game runs normally, without CTDs. But a few gamedays later, this dragon fell down in Markarth...also dead, but with no dragon soul and no skull. Only the whole dragon lies beneath the Markarth Stables, and always at another place. the thing is, this one fell from the sky, too, during another dragon attacked the stables...Strange! A few days later the same (I think so) dragon lies at Kolskeggr Mine. And now, every time I want to fast travel to Karthwasten and surroundings, I've got CTDs or endless loadscreen. When I walked the way, before I came to that area...CTDs. I have read, that this is a well known problem. But how to fix it? Could it be the dragon, because it's a non correct save? I have tested the Less Predictable Respawn Mod (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/29973) to shorten the cleaning areas phase in Skyrim, but it didn't help. Any idea, what I could do?

but basically you've likely got a mod or mods that don't play well together.

I've been seeing a lot of ppl post load orders with out of date mods.

I've seen quite a few running with pre CS mods this is sad.

I've seen a lot, a lot, lotta load orders with redunancy.

 

Honestly I could look at your game and tell you your just playing a game of when will this stop working altogether.

I have had to tell a fairly large number of new members that and often. They just put mods together that will cuase crashes and even say so on the main page of the mods in question so...

Hm, the first time I played the game, you could be right, I've made many mistakes. Then I began to read and learn more about installing mods, and how they all work together. That means: Read the instructions, load order with Boss, cleaning dirty edits and so on. I often read, that many people have the same problem at the same place, without any mod installed. My save size is constantly between 9 and 10MB by 97 Mods. With the rest area of the game, I have no problems, all is running perfect and smooth. The only thing, I really don't know, is how the Merge Patches run, or if they are useless in any form. At this point, I'm still searching for a clear and understandable instruction, how to use them.

 

My Skyrim Version is the newest (1.8.151.0.7), also SKSE (1.6.6 08970000)

Common mistake you should only use 1 hair mod at a time, you are actually using 3 btw

Reason character creation and showracemenu command can crash becuase of VRAM overload, note can crash it's possible that you won't or you wont crash the first time but will later.

-Also ramps texures up pst the 2048 range in general

Adds even more ppl into the world

-Game Engine problem

-More than 3 ppl tends to make the game world less stable

-Using mods like this means you need to be aware that it's possible but not good to your game.

-I myself use ASIS and live with the consequences of it, or rather tweak my game for it knowing the likely outcome

Note that most ppl wouldn't go this in depth with you or even be as familiar with the mods you are running.

For the most part ppl see it this way, I had to learn it myself w/o a manuel or help so why should I help you?

Most ppl don't know jack about how to properly remove items from the game world, IE they deleted the item, now this is a BIG PROBLEM!!! Proper way to alter/remove an item is to just move it out of view. You cannot Delete items in CS without causeing items all alround the world to disappear.

-Additional Problem

-Now when you enter Winterhold you have another Mod calling on a deleted item

-The deleted item is not found and causes an immediate CTD!

 

City Trees & Plants.esp

-other modder's like Chesko did this better, likely this mod was an Alpha and never fully tested or kept up to date.

-how important is it that foxes have breathing idles?

-how important is it that books Glow aka recieve a scripted magical effect that uses game memory to achieve.

-Example the mod makes an active call Function to the Papyrus system checking for unread books

-It then applies the effect to these unread books

-Great watse of computer resources

-sorry if you like the mod but I enjoy performance and stability more

-you'll have to decide that for yourself

-Did the COT author make this

-If no does he actively support this mod

-If no I'd ditch this in a heartbeat

-Likely this is a fan that no longer keeps this up to date or it was always a BETA or Alpha anyway.

-then you apply some other mod that makes changes to those items

-These use ESP's that keep records of the dugeons

-that means it likely conflicts with any other mod that alters an object in those dungeons

-You should not use sound.esp's

-Sound files can be altered ie replaced to make quieter vai replaceing sound files.

-Mopst sound esp's come with addtional problems

-IE when removed cause savegame bloat.

 

Purewaters.esp

-I'm guessing that this is a Mesh improver for water

-Water is about and has always been the most senistive thing you could replace in game.

-Water moves

-Water reflects Light

-Water can reflect objects like a mirror

-Plus water can be seen through

-It all adds up to a big problem for newer modders to tackle

-Expect bad performance or CtD's in areas containing water ie everywhere.

And a big thank you for all the details, in this way, you would search for months in the Nexus Forum.

I think, I will make another character, to test this all out.

 

With the fox thing, Lucia asked for a pet, and I said yes to it. That was pretty damned stupid. This beast breathes really loud.

Director's Cut is in some parts a translation tool. Because the big problem of the mods and the german version of the game is, that it's after installing mods, a mishmash of english/german language.

But, I think, I can live with it, because the speech is for 99% still german. Balgruufs kids are the only ones, who speaks english :rolleyes:

 

And yes, I love the pretty world. But I think, I will do some reducing, and see if it's ok.
