AndrealphusVIII Posted February 3, 2013 Author Share Posted February 3, 2013 (edited) I was using ASIS before, but I only used it for the increased spawns and potions added to npcs.I recently swapped it for Deadly Monsters (optional download from Deadly Dragons). With that mod, I can increase the stats of npcs. That makes them a bit more challenging. But I was wondering: Is it compatible with SkyRe? (Since they both alter npcs)Or is there better option for making npcs stronger and more interesting to fight? Edit: I tried to make a merged patch for SkyRe and ERSO 09, but I couldn't figure out how to get it to work. So I think Deadly Monsters may be a bit easier for me. But I ran across more issues.I uninstalled a whole load of mods and updated some as well, I moved all my mods to MO, I reduced my amount of ingame followers to just 2 (down from 4) and I used the Texture Optimizer on most mods. (I used to path: ModOrganizer/Mods/<mod name>, and I did them one at a time. (Someone suggested me to use the Texture Optimizer outside MO, to avoid issues.)When Dragonborn was released, I used my old save (with almost no mods at all) to play the game. Everything worked fine actually. No lag, graphical glitches and almost no CTDs (only 1 CTD in about 20 hrs of playing, which is great for my low end rig)But when I finished Dragonborn, I decided to go back to other save (Which I call my "Hardcore save" because of all the difficulty increasing mods)But immediatly I noticed that something is still wrong. Let's try this again.... 1) The ERSO plugins that edit NPCs, including the one that changes the flag for trainers/vendors to 'protected' status and the boss NPC enchancements: not sure about compatibility with SkyRe, but they will conflict with any mod that edits NPC records, so yeah, you will need a compatibility patch if you want to ensure compatibility between those mods and the other mods in your load order. However, there is no easy way to do this. Ideally, the NPC compatibility patch should be made manually in TES5Edit. An automatically generated merged patch will merge conflicting edits to NPC records that are not 'true conflicts', but it will also merge records that are not intended to be merged, for example, edits to an NPC's inventory intended to -replace- that NPC's default game inventory, will be 'merged' instead by the merge patch function in TES5Edit. What you can do is to load all your plugins in TES5Edit except your compatibility patches (e.g. the ReProccer and the Bashed Patch), and create a merged patch, then delete all records from the merged patch -except- NPC records. This will merge conflicts between NPC records that are not 'true conflicts', but is not sufficient for the reasons mentioned above. Ideally, you should then go through the merged NPC records to edit them based on what should be merged and what should not be merged, but this would require the user to be able to read game records in TES5Edit. After editing, that merged patch should be loaded below all other mods but above your other compatibility patches like the ReProccer and the Bashed Patch. Alternatively, you can skip the' editing merged NPC records' step but follow the other steps, and hope for the best. The absolute easiest alternative is to accept the will be some (hopefully minimal) conflicting NPC records, most of which should not be 'game breaking', and just let BOSS sort the load order without jumping through all the hoops I described. This is what most ERSO users do. 2) Not sure about Might Dragons, because I never used it. Based on what I read, it's a simpler, less ambitious attempt to make dragons more powerful than DD. It doesn't require scripts because it doesn't come with a dragon assault system like DD, just modifies base dragon templates to make them more powerful. 3) mod compatibility with Dragonborn: one of the major obstacles right now is that the source files for the DB DLC scripts have not been released. This is why most of the DB mods have been restricted to non-script related edits, and why so many people are having issues with the 'no dragon soul absorb because Miraak is supposed to/but does not appear to steal them' bug, which apparently wasn't always working properly in the default DLC to begin with. If we have access to the source scripts, it would be much easier to see what is broken by what. Once that happens, the ball will get rolling and a number of mods requiring an update for DB will no longer be 'on hold' and can remove any 'quick fixes' and implement real fixes. Unfortunately, no one knows what that will be. [edit] source files for DB scripts have been released with the update to the CK. There doesn't seem to be any "conflict" (= red record in TES5Edit) accourding to TES5Edit. Still, I will be putting this one after SkyRe just in case)ERSO 08.2 HARKON (Same as above)ERSO 09 - Vendor Trainer Quest-giver protected (I did some research in TES5Edit and I noticed only some small "conflicts" (= red colored records) with UFO. Some followers who also offer skill training ("trainers") become protected (= only killable by me). ripple Posted February 18, 2013 Share Posted February 18, 2013 You shouldn't have too many issues without a merged patch, but it depends on whether any of these plugins conflict with the other mods in your load order. If there are only minor conflicts, then it won't be necessary. A lot of mods requiring update for DB have been updated. It all depends on the authors. Some authors are missing in action, others have said they won't be getting DB until it goes on sale. It all depends on which mods. Mods like UFO don't need to be 'updated' per se but need a support plugin for the new DLC that covers new companions. Mods like CoS and WiC also do not need to be 'updated' per se but may need new leveled lists and outfit records in order to distribute their items to the new DLC MOBs (I haven't looked into it, but I know at least some of the DLC MOBs are using new outfit records for the DLC armours and new leveled lists for DLC weapons). Deadly Dragon is (surprisingly) unaffected by the DLC. RnD has been updated for the DLC as you know by now, and ERSO too. SkyRe, not sure. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
