Creation Kit Question *Please help*

When you are done making your mod and save it and then want to make changes to it later, how do you save the new version in the Creation Kit? I am very new to Creation Kit and still trying to figure it out. The only options I have is to start from scratch and do it all over again or load the old mod and then save it again. When I load the old mod and want to save it with the same name it won't let me. Finally If I save the mod again with the previous version loaded in the Creation Kit, do I need the previous mod version active at the same time for it to work in-game? If I need to clarify please let me know. I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me out.

I'm not completely sure what you're running into, but if you're making a change to an existing mod the CK should just let you save it. It shouldn't ask you to rename it. Are you making sure you are opening the mod file (not the master esm) and setting the file to "Active"? (so, if your mod is "myMod.esm," make sure you're opening "myMod.esm.")

When you open the CK, go to file>data and select the mod you want to change (not one of the master files--Skyrim, Update, Dawnguard, etc.). Then click on the "Set as Active File" button (bottom left hand corner of the data dialogue box) and then click OK.

So, if all you're doing is making changes to an existing mod, then open the mod in the CK (as I described above), make the changes, and then either click on the save icon in the upper left hand corner or go to file>save (both do the same thing). It shouldn't ask you to name anything. It will just save the changes. But you have to make the changes to the existing mod.

I hope that helps.
