Losing items when storing

I am using the Midas Mod, and one day, I after taking a large amount of items from Midas' chest, I put the items into a safe chest in the Wizard's Tower Mod. Only about half the items appear. I loaded my last save game and tried again, and it seems to be the same items disappearing, and a large number if items disappearing. Putting them in a different chest makes different items disappear. Disabling Midas does not solve the problem.

As long as you're sure the chest is a safe one that won't respawn the problem occurs when you add a large amount of items to it. Usually, if you use the "Take All' command all of your items will appear in your inventory.

Chests have a limit of how many items will show in it's inventory screen. Try to spread your gear around more storage and you should be fine.

I tried that, and it works to a certain degree, but random items still don't appear in certain chests. Its still random. But the Take All command did get me all my items from my Midas Chest.

I figure taking a large amount from the chest the first time screwed it up. Anyway I can fix that?

When you say "certain chests' are you absolutely sure they are safe ones? There are only a limited number of chests in the vanilla game that don't respawn and unless a mod description says it's chests are safe, I assume they may not be. But, usually they are.

One way to test it is to put something you don't care about in a chest, wait for whatever your respawn rate is, depending on mods used, and see if it's still there. Or go to the CS and remove the tick from the Respawn box if you know which chest it is.

Some people have mistakenly assumed the magic ingredients chest in the Archmage Tower is safe...it's not!

I use Midas and haven't had any issues with it, but I spread my gear around other containers as well.

I have had a problem in the past (not with Midas) where if I overload a chest or Take All from one the game crashes. It's a lot of calculations for the game to make in a very short time. I don't do it anymore!

If you know the Form ID of the items you've lost you could possibly get them back with the console.

For example:

player.additem "FormID" "number of items you want" - without the quotes.

If they are items from a mod you probably need to use the CS to find the Form ID with the mod that has those items loaded. Find the item in the Object List and hover your mouse cursor over it to find the ID. Write it down and try the console code in game.

Other than that it may be you've lost those items for good. o_O

Or someone else may have a better idea.
