FiftyTifty Posted February 12, 2013 Share Posted February 12, 2013 It's for certain games, such as Batman:AA, to enable features available only to AMD/NVidia on NVidia\AMD. E.G, Batman:AA had some optimized AntiAliasing code which was only usable if you had an NVidia card; not because of hardware, but because of a vendor check. If you made the game think your AMD card was an NVidia card, you got the better-performing AA method in Batman:AA Some games perform better with AMD/Nvidia cards, and spoofing the ID can net you the extra performance if you have the other vendor's card.
