paint.net How to make a texture invisible ?

Hi all I would make some accessories/shoes, etc disappear but when I use the eraser or magic wand to make the texture invisible, it makes it black... Any idea on how to make a texture invisible with paint.net ? Thanks.

The image needs to be in a format that supports "Alpha" channels, such as TGA or PNG or for gaming, usually DDS. Then you need to use either an alpha channel plugin or "transparency" in Paint.net to add invisible or translucent parts to an image.

The point is: where do I find this transparency ? What tool must I use and where is it ?
