Using standalone armor textures as replacer for vanilla armor textures

Hello, I found an awesome standalone dragonbone armor mod (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/24941) that I really want to use as a replacer for dragonplate armor, so I asked the author if they could release a replacer version alongside the standalone but haven't received an answer so I thought I might try it myself, thinking it can't be that hard, right? Well turns out for a total noob like me it is. After following a youtube video guide and also looking at the wiki on creating armors I just can't get it right and the armor just shows a purple texture even though it looks like I was able to get the vanilla meshes replaced with the new ones, but the textures just don't show no matter what I do.

So after all that my question is, how does a noob like me take standalone armor textures and meshes and make them a replacer for vanilla armor? I would greatly appreciate any help.

go into the creation kit and find the armour you want to replace in the items>armor addon section, and the item>armor section.

http://www.creationkit.com/ArmorAddon

http://www.creationkit.com/Armor

you just need to change where the bipped model and world models link to, so you open them and find the folder with the corresponding files in your mod armour. they should all be labelled the same.

don't forget the 1st person models, if they're listed change them too. usually just the cuiras and gloves.

don't forget the race versions, most of the time it's just helms.

you can be lazy and just do the race/gender you play as. should be that simple for that mod armour.

then save it as a plugin, you won't need the original, test in game.
