TreshMek
... without breaking too much of the engine, of course. I always end up over-modding the game by saturating it with weapon and armor mods, and end up with barely any room for actual game-changing mods. Game saves become corrupted and some mods become undetected by MO2. I'd like to say it isn't my fault... but there are so many mods I want to try out from the Nexus! That said, how do I safely bypass the plugin limit? Is it only a case of choosing what mods I actually want enabled? Is there are way to make plugins detected as one? Blinxys
You can also convert mods to esl, esl files open up the 255 limit considerably. If you follow the above, you have FO4edit.If you load your entire Load Order in FO4edit right-click in the Left Pane, and select "apply Script...".... means there is something following, in this case a list of scripts. In the Scripts drop-down menu, select "Find ESP plugins which could be turned into ESL".Then Select "Ok".It will generate a list for you, the ones that do not have any instructions are the easiest. Then you can try compacting form ids and converting by editing the header.Avoid merges/converting to esp those that have scripts, or BA2 files wit them, at least for starters. Reference:By way of Creation Kit (Best Method) see under "How to Convert your Mod".Secondary ReferenceBy Way of FO4edit (Also Acceptable).Just Google It... The advantage is it makes clean mods that you can merge later as needed / if desired once you get familiar with the tools. Also keeps them discrete in case you want to remove / change something. SpaceMachineSixThousandOne
We don't do it like that anymore. By the time we needed to begin FO3PlugIn Utility, it was a script in xEdit as you see in the above links, but shortly after FO4 launched, Merge Plugins launched for Oldrim. Works just the same on FO4, but we don't have to decompile/recompile scripts, and we have to unpack .BA2 manually. I make backups of everything when I merge. Usually I start merging mods as soon as I get enough mods to play. I've had 3 good builds of the game merging while I was learning how, and getting better at it. Then 2-3 times it catastrophically failed. The last two I've spent 6 months to a year building. 478 mods, I work on it for 6 months to a year. Only ever made one 20Gb larger than this. I also repair all the broken stuff or set it how I want things. It's a real work/play hobby. I even make new things in the game sometimes. Try out experimental ideas. The main thing is to play the game though. While building this I play it to test it's going good, and I just keep working on it until I can make a much longer play of the game. This 478 is stable, it's most difficult to get a stable build, going into 400 mods is difficult, this is stuff I had to have, I didn't try to get all of anything this time, well maybe, all the food, all the mods that add loot or collectable items, it's 200 loaded, 178 is .esl or hidden in merges. Blinxys
Was that addressed to the OP, or me? Have also been merging, trying out zEdit which is a new streamlined xEdit, still leaning on FO4edit though. Otherwise, agree with all your above, have been on a quite similar path with much different content, can't imagine what you game looks like with all those mods. Am up to 367 installed reduced to 271 actual plugins and 247 "active" ones by munging them together and getting wise in general.Don't rightly know how many are esls, I don't even convert them anymore, just suck em up into other (related) mods as needed. (I try to save a few slots before 255 for testing/creating/merging and later when comfortably tested/debugged for quests|iDLCs like OaR).4:5 of anything left out has a script attached to it, everything else is being scrutinized/sanitized.Looking to make a few fat ESPs and mega merged BA2s for a finale. Freaking myself out last few days how silky smooth it's gotten in some previously rough spots in the worldspace, even with SS:Conqueror Downtown Boston, Financial District. Not without its glitches, but almost entirely bug free now. After five years from release, and a year of me getting up to speed, this horse might finally win, place or show among my favorite game(s) ever. Said it elsewhere:"This is Fallout 4 it's educational, not recreational."But learning is so much fun! :geek:
