dorn2
Lately I've been really digging into nifs and face geom generation. I feel like I pretty much understand everything about this but I find this particular point really puzzling. Vanilla hair has two parts. It has a head conforming mesh hairline that has a dark texture on it so that the skull won't show through on any gaps in the actual hair mesh. Custom hair sometimes has this conforming mesh hairline but usually they also repeat the hair mesh twice. This causes double the amount of polygons. Modern computers probably scoff at this but it still bugs me since I don't understand the reason. Anyone have a clue?
