skorpionss
So I just installed Skyrim again, updated to last version and installed both Hearthfire and Dawnguard and a few mods and when I tried playing it crashed at char screen ... Can you guys take a look over what mods I am using and tell me if any of them could be causing the problem, cause from what I've seen it seems to be ApachiiHair's problem but I am unsure :-? I added an image of the mods I am running so please, take a look and leave me a comment/PM if u have any ideas... I've spent too many hours already downloading, installing and tyring to see what the problem is and my patience reached it's limit for today... will try again in the weekend based off your guy's suggestions. ripple
1) Cleaning: BOSS has informed you of a number of issues with the plugins in your load order, so download TES5Edit from that link and follow the instruction on the page to clean the esp's flagged by BOSS as containing 'dirty edits.' 2) XFLMain.exmXFLDialogue.esp ActiveIncompatible with: UFO - Ultimate Follower Overhaul.espXFLPlugins.esp ActiveIncompatible with: UFO - Ultimate Follower Overhaul.esp 3) Try the low-res version of SkyHair and see if you can create a character without crashing. 4) If you are going to do a clean reinstall, use the Mod Organizer instead of the NMM. MO does not install mod files directly into the game data folder, so no files are ever overwritten. Then you don't have to worry about installing mods (especially texture replacers) in the 'wrong order.'

Couldn't sleep so tried installing with Mod Organizer but after installing everything skyrim crashes on launch >.< as in windows error ... hmm fixed that by checking all BSA boxes but now it just crashes when starting the game xD ... also some mods are grayed out coz they have a weird archive structure that apparently doesn't work well with MO... such as ApachiiSkyHair... ripple
I don't have an issue with installing SkyHair using MO. Try and install a handful of mods (say 5) then test to see if everything is working in game, then install another 5. Use something like 'Quick Start' to skip the Helgan tutorial. Use something like 'Quick Start' to skip the Helgan tutorial. this is what it says when trying to install it ... Okay so I tried only installing some mods: FNIS, PC Exclusive Animation Path, XP32 Maximum Skeleton, ApachiiSkyHair, Enhanced Char Edit, CHSBHC, CBBE, Fair Skin Complexion With Sweaty Body, Better Males, Adult Show, Ashen Race and the Unofficial skyrim/dawnguard Patch ... and it crashes when trying to switch from male to female in char edit ... ripple
You get the 'No game data on top level' message because you are trying to 'manually install' the mod package in MO. Manual install should only be done when inevitable and when you know what you are doing (otherwise, query for info then install automatically). The message is telling you that the archive has an unconventional directory structure. It actually doesn't, but this is the general MO message for 'so...what do you wanna do?' Look for a data folder in the archive, right click on it and select 'set as data....' (or something to that effect). The message should change from red to a green 'everything looks ok' (or something to that effect). Then you can install it. CTD or game lockup in showracemenu: this is well know and widely reported issue with Skyrim. It's caused by using too many cosmetic mods (not just hair mods), including body retextures and remeshes (e.g. all the body replacers and their hi res retextured skins), custom races and their custom body meshes and skins, and so on. One way to attempt to mitigate this issue is to use low-res versions of those textures for character creation, then install the hi-res versions after you are done. skorpionss
I see, but how do I make FNIS work with MO ? doesn't it need to be in the data folder where all the mods should be ... so it can patch them or does it work from the MO mods directory too ? Anyway I'm gonna give it a try now.
ripple
Two ways to use FNIS with MO: 1) You can install FNIS externally (move the FNISForUser executable to it's appropriate directory in the game data folder, it is an 'utility' after all and all utilities should be installed manually rather than using a mod manager). You will then need to set up the FNISForUser.exe as an executable in MO (one of the top left menu buttons). Then you can run FNIS in MO (right top drop down menu). 2) Install FNIS like a mod through MO. Click on 'data' on the right window of MO, which allows you to navigate the 'virtual data folder.' Find FNIS in it's usual location, run FNIS for users. Edited February 1, 2013 by ripple
