EVILNETCH
I recently reinstalled FO4 so I could stream it on twitch but the game crashes if I move away from where I loaded in. At first I thought something was just out of date, I hadn't played for 3 or so months so I checked F4SE nothing. I updated and reinstalled all my mods and again nothing. So I disabled all my mods and plugins along with DLC just to see and once more nothing. I even tested something where I loaded in and just stood where I loaded in and 3 hours later I was still there but as soon as I moved maybe 50 yards I CTD. I've verified the game files on steam I've tried a fresh install and just about everything in between. IF someone could help me out that would be fantastic cus this is just plain f*#@ing stupid at this point.BTW if you need to know my pc specs are as follows i9-9900kRTX 2070 super 16gb of ramwindows
LucidLady
Are you having this problem on a new game? Or are you trying to get an old save to work?Have you tried this on a new - unmodded save? Are you only getting the CTD when you run around, or do you also CTD when you fast-travel?How is your Cached Memory looking? Is it over 5gb?
EVILNETCH
I've tried old and new saves, modded and unmodded. I can fast travel but if I walk away from where I load in at I CTD.
LucidLady
Very peculiar. So you CTD even after fast-traveling somewhere?Alot of threads like this have been popping up lately. I think it might be a Steam issue.Steam sometimes fails to reacquire some files when you verify integrity. You never answered how your cached memory is looking. In order to quickly check, open Task Manager - Hit the Performance tab at the top - Hit the Memory tab to the left, and underneath the graphs, what does it say under Cached? Also have you altered your Fallout4.ini or Fallout4Custom.ini text files? Not including the changes you HAVE to make in order to get mods to work.Have you done anything to make the fps cap go above 60?
EVILNETCH
I have 2.9gb cached. I haven't changed anything on my .ini files and my fps cap is still 60.
LucidLady
Hmm. I'm afraid I can't be much help - i've never even heard of an issue like this.It sounds like it's a cellstoload issue - sounds like it's failing to load the next cell as you move. You could try reducing your uGridsToLoad in the Fallout4.ini fileGo with this - uGridsToLoad=3The default value is 5. And 7 is for higher end PCs. Try this setting with a new, unmodded playthrough.
EVILNETCH
Nope nothing but I do appreciate the attempt.
EVILNETCH
Alright well this is one for the books. I started fiddle f*#@ing around with graphics settings and when I turned depth of field to low the game magically works again. I'm now currently playing with my full 175 mod load order and nothing of interest has happened yet. The creation engine for ya I guess...
