beebophuckleberry
I've been using DynDOLOD for a long time and it works fine. I tried xLODgen today for terrain and all my trees disappeared. At this point I simply want to remove xLODgen and all it's files, but I can't find a output folder. DynDOLOD puts it's files in a output folder which I then install via Vortex. xLODgen appears to inject the files straight into your game folder... now I don't know which files need to be removed.Help? Algabar
Removing the folders .../Skyrim SE/data/meshes/lod and .../Skyrim SE/data/textures/lod should clean all remnants of Xlodgen output. Problem is, you will also erase other custom LOD meshes and textures. You would have to reinstall at least DYNDOLOD resources, TexGen output and DYNDOLOD output - and maybe other LOD meshes or textures - e.g., from texture replacers, if you used them. TBH, I would NOT recommend such a radical measure. At least not without a backup... There's a high risk of messing up your install. My suggestion would be to run DYNDOLOD again instead and let it (re)create object LODs and trees. In fact, that's the usual procedure:1. Finalize your load order.2. Create TERRAIN lod only (no object lod, no tree lod, no occlusion) with XLodgen.3a Create LOD textures with TexGen.3b. Create OBJECT and TREE lod with DNYDOLOD (= use DYNDOLOD as you always would).4. (Optional) Create occlusion data with Xlodgen. You kinda did step two after step three. Bad idea...I think simply leaving your LODs created by XLodgen as they are and re-running first TexGen and then DYNDOLOD should be the best solution. beebophuckleberry
Algabar, those are the same steps I was following. I just forgot to assign a output folder which caused xLODGen to inject the files directly into the folder. I finally found which folder it was. They were put into textures/terrain. I removed them all and everything is back to normal. Next, I set a ouput folder and regenerated everything before turning the files into a archive and installing via Vortex. As a extra safety measure I reran DynDOLOD. Everything looks great now. Only problem now is my map still isn't showing roads even though the Quality World Map is loaded after the xLODGen files. For now I'm giving up and just going to install Perfect Terrain LOD because it works with the roads on the map; https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/39563 Thanks anyways :) Edited August 24, 2020 by beebophuckleberry
Algabar
Yeah... there seems to be a problem with terrain LOD generated by XLODGen and the world map. I'm not an expert on how LOD works exactly in this game.... Maybe someone with a better technical background can shed some light on this. I had a similar problem: "Blocky" waters and some flickering on the world map after I had created terrain LOD with XLODGen. Looks like it's connected to LOD level 32. AFAIk, level 32 LOD is mainly used for the world map. As a test, I deleted all LOD level 32 files created by XLODGen in .../data/meshes/terrain/Tamriel and .../data/meshes/terrain/DLC2SolstheimWorld. This means I basically I removed all LOD level 32 files for Skyrim's main land and Solstheim that were created by XLODGen. Now my map is back to normal. So far, I didn't see any noticable negative impact on the game world (or the effects are so minor that I didn't see them).
FredZeppelin
Just use the Perfect Terrain LOD mod. It provides an xLODGen output that’s 90% as good with none of the work. You’ll probably still want to run TexGen and DynDOLOD, but they‘re easier to use.

I'm using Skyrim HD as my main texture replacer, so none of the options currently available really fits my game. I HAD to create terrain LOD myself...
