RS13
I remember Fallout 4 being far more stable than Skyrim, basically only crashing with corrupted meshes, but I've recently returned to it and I'm having f*#@ing magic crashes. I'm talking about the kind of crashes where you're able to reproduce a crash until you start disabling and re-enabling mods. Or the kind where you crash on load, find the offending mod, remove it from your setup, start a new game and still run into unloadable saves. Just utterly inexplicable crashes. I have a much slimmer mod list than I've ever used in FO4 (54 total plugins, counting bethesda masters) except at launch and I'm still getting magic crashes. LucidLady
There's been an awful lot of threads like this lately - People reinstalling the game, and finding everything broken (with or without mods).I'm beginning to think it's a Steam issue. One thread caught a folder that Steam failed to re-download while Validating Files. Things like that may be going on with a lot of other people. I have no idea how you could catch if this was happening with you. Let me ask - is one of the mods you're using the UFO4Patch?I've found that asking people to disable the Patch has either had no effect - or flat-out been the sole solution to their CTD problem. In another thread, it seems that the problem was being caused by Cached Memory size. Clearing the Cached Memory helped (both him and me). In another similar thread, a person randomly crashed while waiting for Transfer Settlements to do it's thing. I think that may also have been related to Cached Memory. For whatever reason - the game may be reacting poorly to Cached Memory. So try clearing it, especially if it's over 5gb. Speaking personally, as someone who has never uninstalled the game in the first place, the game seems more stable than ever for me.I have over 3oo mods enabled. I don't use LOOT or the UFO4Patch. You SHOULDN'T use LOOT or UFO4Patch if you have anywhere near 1oo mods. The only time my game EVER crashes is about 20% of the time whenever i'm trying to Save the game. This has been the case for years, for me. But setting up an auto-clearing cached memory task has definitely lowered that percentage.I've seen alot of people with better PCs than me - and much smaller load orders - still unable to play because of simply poor Load Orders. Even 54 mods is enough to bust your game if you don't organize them properly. Whatever the case - something definitely does seem odd lately. Something might have changed in the game. It happens! This is why we can't have the Clipboard mod. u_u RIP.
RS13
It's funny you mentioned the unofficial patch I'd actually already identified it as a cause of an unloadable save before starting this playthrough. So, no, not using it. I just verified the game through steam and six files had to be redownloaded. 0_o. Hopefully that's the issue.
