Hi guys. I've been trying to play skyrim lately, but I can't. I'm using Nexus Mod Manager, and when I click Launch SKSE the game seems to work fine. Until I get to the Bethesda logo. Once it gets to the Bethesda logo it shows the main menu for about a split second and then it just crashes to desktop. Please help.

Nevermind! It's fixed. To any of you having this problem, go to steam and right click skyrim. Scroll down and click properties. Go to local files and click 'Verify Integrity of Game Chache. That should solve it.

I'm assuming you are playing with a modded game considering you are posting under "mod troubleshooting?" Or do you only have SKSE and nothing else?

 

If your game is modded, crash on startup is almost always caused by improper load order. If one of your mods relies on another mod being loaded before it, but that mod is not loaded before it, the game crashes.

You could use BOSS (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6) to automatically create a load order if you don't know what to do. Otherwise try to find out if any of your mods need to be loaded in a certain order by looking at their readmes or download page.

I am getting the same thing yet, I am using Boss and My load order... According to Boss is correct... Yet, I get crashes on startup... What can I do?

You can post your BOSS log (with the messages), include a list of plugins not recognized by BOSS if one is generated, and enclose both in spoiler tags so they don't clutter the screen.

1) Cleaning: Download TES5Edit from that link, follow the instructions on that page, and clean the plugins flagged by BOSS as containing 'dirty edits.'

3) Always read carefully and follow mod installation instructions. For example:

After you're done with that, disable the 4 esp's not recognized by BOSS, and try starting the game to see if you can get past the company logo. CTD at game start up is typically caused by missing masters. One of these 4 plugin could be dependent on a master you did not install.

 

Note: strange that Jaysus Sword esm did not give the usual warning about needing a updated fix patch....also

These should be giving errors about needing updated fix patches. Is your BOSS updated to the lastest version and the latest masterlist?

 

 

If the game loads up fine:

 

3) You'll need to download Wrye Bash to generate a Bashed Patch to merge the conflicting leveled lists from all the 'give more stuff to NPCs mods' you have in your load order (e.g. cloaks, Jaysus swords NPC distribution plugin, immersive armour, etc.).
