Dovah5368
This is my first post on a forum so apologies if something isn't right. I'll put a TLDR at the very bottom in bold with the basic gist but the rest of this is going to be pretty long. Also I'm not just trying to find someone to work on this, I'm totally open to suggestions so any response is welcome! Essentially I was starting a new playthrough one day and I started to get curious about what happens to the two soldiers in green T-60 that are seen guarding the entrance to Vault 111 in the beginning of the game. At first I just assumed they died in the blast, but supposedly T-60 is supposed to offer decent protection against atomic blasts and also there is no evidence of their bodies anywhere. There's tons of skeletons wearing Vault-Tec security armor and what not but there are no burnt-out suits of T-60. Even if the suits were scavenged, I feel like there would at least be the frames left or something. Anyway I started thinking about what could have possibly happened to them if they survived and my brain pretty much ran wild. The idea is to have a bunch of holotapes (numbered or at least dated to help in piecing together the story in case they are found out of order) that are found randomly in containers in certain locations. The locations are meant to kind of follow the main storyline a little bit but we'll have to add a few extra in probably. I have the main story outline mostly done and a rough draft of the first two tapes written. This is what I have: Follows the two soldiers in green T-60 that were guarding the vault after the bombs dropped. Names: Sergeant Joseph “Splat” Quinn from New York right on the border with Ontario so not directly hit by the bombs, Corporal Julio “Chef” Venasquez from Arizona. Both promoted after Anchorage. January 2077 was the liberation of Anchorage, October 23rd 2077 the bombs dropped. *This was just a note for me to help remember*All the tapes before the bombs fall will be found in whatever settlement they end up “settling down” in for a while as electronic copies of the communications between Quinn and his Wife or whoever, so the player won’t find those until around halfway through-ish. Chronological events, each bullet represents a tape: Quinn and Venasquez meet. The soldiers receive shipments of the T-51 power armor and Venasquez earns his nickname after it is discovered that he is rather good at improving the standard military rations. The liberation of Anchorage, this battle is where Quinn gets his nickname after jumping out of a vertibird directly onto an enemy Chinese Soldier. Sent stateside for guard duty at a classified location (sentinel site) as R&R during which they get to visit home a few times, and they are also issued T-60 power armor. *The above tapes will be found in whatever settlement Quinn and Venasques settle down in, as if Quinn was carrying them with him until then. The tapes from here on out will be found in whatever location is mentioned in the tape, if no location is mentioned then we'll have to think of one.*Sent to Sanctuary Hills as part of a guard detail for Vault 111 as security becomes a growing concern. Next recording is two days after the bombs fell, Quinn and Venasquez both survive and Quinn decides to keep recording messages even though Julia is probably dead. They head off to rendezvous with other survivors at the South Boston Military Checkpoint after hearing the radio broadcast. At the checkpoint, surviving first responders are split up to help in different areas. Quinn and Venasquez are sent to the Federal Ration Stockpile to help distribute resources and keep the peace. They are present when it goes nuts and get a glimpse of what people will become in the years after the collapse of society. They then decide to head to Diamond City (probably before it was Diamond City) because the stadium has become a sort of help/triage center for survivors, Then they move to an undecided settlement to work security, settle down a little bit, and try and get some normalcy reestablished in their lives. We don’t here from Quinn for a few years (maybe) as he is hopefully happy and content and focuses on rebuilding. But at some point while him and Venasquez are here they decide to conserve the condition of their power armor (since they don’t really have the facilities to do full maintenace) and stop wearing it unless they absolutely need it. A few weeks later Venasquez is shot in the head during a raider attack. Quinn states in the recording that he just walked out like he forgot he didn’t have his T-60 on and Quinn struggles with losing his last connection to his life before the war, other than his armor. Afew more years (ish) pass and the next recording we get from Quinn is in the aftermath of a huge raider attack that wipes out the settlement he was living in, he manages to survive and kill all of the raiders due to the armor but he is the only survivor. Quinn spends a while roaming the commonwealth just sort of existing and begins to struggle without a sense of purpose. He doesn’t want to join another settlement for fear of failing again, but he needs to do something. During this time, he also modifies his armor and adds a lot of foliage and natural camouflage in the event that he needs to hide or sneak up on something, Eventually due to psychological trauma and loneliness Quinn decides on suicide by making his suit's fusion core go critical but backs out after not being able to look his armor in the face and do it (sort of like a man in the mirror self-reflection thing). One morning Quinn wakes up and has an epiphany about Sentinel Site being his new purpose. He believes he needs to get there and secure it so that nobody can use the nukes to destroy the world again. Due to his time stationed there, he is certain he has the knowledge to disable the nukes or at the very least keep them secured. He may do some more recordings on his way through the glowing sea I’m not sure yet. He gets to sentinel site and discovers it’s been taken over by a hunting pack of deathclaws interested in the high levels of radiation as a good spot to breed (even compared to the rest of the glowing sea it’s high) and decides that he needs to do recon and prepare himself. He also states that it’s going to be tough and recalls that him and Venasquez had a few run ins with single deathclaws back at the settlement and that it took concentrated fire from both miniguns to take them down, Quinn spends a long time watching the pack and realizes that they’re all male and theorizes that they may be part of some advance group checking the site out before the matriarch moves the rest of the pack in (because he knows they’re much smarter than people think). He also notices the leader of this pack is a monstrously large alpha male with upturned horns as opposed to the rest having the regular downturned horns. Either during the day or night while sleeping he hears an alarm in the facility going off and remembers that it’s the arming siren of the nukes from his days stationed there performing all of the nuclear attack drills. Quinn hastily decides that he’s got to get in there and settles for a full-frontal, balls-out assault. This is Quinn’s last recording because after fighting through the entire pack (not without some close calls) Quinn manages to make it to the bottom of the stairs up to the control room. Stepping up onto the stairs he hears booming steps behind him and turns to see the alpha rushing at him and before he can spin up his minigun the deathclaw pounces. It grabs him by the shoulder and leg, crushing the armor around his leg and severely injuring his shoulder before sideswiping his head tearing a large gash in his helmet. At this point Quinn is operating on adrenaline and fight-or-flight and swings a backhand with his free hand as hard as he can at the deathclaws head, breaking one of his horns (I like this detail as a possible little origin story of the Savage Deathclaw, obviously not perfect since you can find multiple but I still think it's cool) and sending the beast reeling for a moment thanks to the pistons in his armor. This gives Quinn enough time to toss a frag grenade at its feet which further disorients and injures the deathclaw to the point that it takes off out of Sentinel Site and leaves Quinn alone. The explosion and fragments bounce off of his T-60 and doesn’t bother Quinn. He takes a moment to try and take stock of the situation and realizes he’s pretty messed up. He then decides to just sit and rest for a moment before trying to ascend the stairs to the control room. He then loses consciousness and passes away due to blood loss from the wound in his leg. This is where the player finds Quinn's body and can pick up the T-60 and minigun, I imagine there being a bunch of deathclaw skeletons and bullet holes on the way here and then Quinn's body sitting in an upright position against the wall at the base of the stairs. The helmet and one of the leg pieces of the suit will need to be repaired ( to represent the damage sustained in the fight) and I think it would be cool to have the model of the suit covered in plants and camouflage. I have no idea on the model or stats of the unique minigun just yet. The custom models are the hardest part as I have no experience or any idea how to do that. Here are the two rough draft first tapes to give kind of an idea what they could look like: June 5th, 2076 Hey Jules, I’m not sure if you could have guessed this but Alaska kind of sucks. It’s freezing in the winter like you would expect, but what nobody talks about is the summer. It’s so hot and muggy and the mosquitoes are so big we could probably just use them as troop carriers instead of APCs and Vertibirds. Speaking of which, these things are great! We’ve been practicing jumping out of them in our power armor to decrease deployment times and increase the “shock and awe” effect. Like a bunch of walking tanks carrying miniguns and missile launchers don’t already have enough shock and awe. Other than that, it’s been pretty stale here. Neither us or the Reds can break through the other’s line, so we just sit here and stare menacingly at each other. Pretty terrible strategy if you ask me, but the Army doesn’t ask me, so I guess it doesn’t matter. Oh, I almost forgot! We got this new guy in, Private Venasquez, and I just don’t know what to make of him. So far, he’s been pretty standoffish, maybe he’ll warm up to us. If he’s going to, he needs to hurry, I’d like to be next to someone I know I can trust if we’re going to do another push soon. That’s pretty much it, I’ll keep you posted and I hope everyone back home is doing ok. Give Molly a pat on the head for me. I love both of you and I can’t wait to be back home and hang out with my two favorite girls again. Lots of Love, Joe P.S. We need to get another Bernese puppy when I get back, I think Molly would love someone else to play with. November 17th, 2076 Hi again, Things are starting to look pretty good here! We just got a bunch of new shipments of power armor in all nice and shiny. T-51b, as opposed to our old T-45. I’m not sure what happened to the rest of the numbers in between 45 and 51 or what happened to T-51a, but none of us have exploded yet so I assume they got it right this time. These new suits are such an improvement! The mobility is so good it’s almost like you’re not even wearing a half-ton of armor and hydraulics! And that new Venasquez guy is really something. The man is a magician with our rations. The quality of food isn’t exactly a high point on a combat deployment but when he gets ahold of it, he can throw meals together that taste like they came right out of a 5-star restaurant. That’s why the rest of us have taken to calling him Chef, and I have a feeling that nickname will stick. He said he’s planning on cooking us up something special for Thanksgiving. Other than that we’ve just been preparing for whenever we get the order to attack. Lots of the same practice jumping out of vertibirds and stomping around pretending to shoot paper targets with big guns. It feels (and I’m sure looks) pretty silly but our higher ups insist that it will help us when we actually do get into combat. I hope home is still doing good! I’m anxious to make the push and end this standoff so I can finally come home and see everyone again. All of the Love, Joe And that is everything! I know it's a lot but I haven't really touched it since I got this far and I think there's some decent stuff here so maybe someone else can get some good inspiration from some of this. Thanks to anyone who responds with suggestions or anything really! TLDR: Story Driven quest mod that follows the personal logs of one of the two soldiers guarding Vault 111 in green T-60, the logs would be found randomly in containers in certain locations and the end reward is a unique suit of T-60 with a new model covered in foliage that comes with a stealth bonus and also a unique minigun. Dovah5368
Have you seen the Fallout 76 trailer? No somehow I hadn't seen that trailer, I bought the game and put about 100 hours into it but yet somehow I missed that. Still, I did a little digging and according to wiki and the 76 in game stats, T-60 has better radiation protection than T-51 which is what most likely killed that solider in the trailer. So maybe it could have been possible for someone in T-60 to survive. And the fact that the suit was left behind and visible in the trailer is kinda what I was talking about when I said that there should have been some trace of the suits outside Vault 111. It could be argued that the 76 trailer is taking place only 25 years after the bombs dropped whereas Fallout 4 takes place over 200 years later so there was much more time for someone to come by and take it, but if the suits had been scavenged then the Vault-Tec security armor on all of those skeletons probably would have been scavenged too.
