AlbinoPolarBear
I'm getting horrible framerate in New Vegas (and Fallout 3). I'm playing on Ultra settings (lowering the graphics settings doesn't help).I'm using 4GB patch, Fake Fullscreen, d3d9.dll fix, NVSE and Fallout Stutter Remover. Nothing helps. My average FPS is around 20 or lower, but I've seen people with similar computer specs and they get around 60 FPS.Does anyone know why I'm getting this bad FPS? I'm thinking it might be my CPU or RAM, but I could be wrong... Xaranth
Are the horrible framerates EVERYWHERE, or in specific areas? Have you edited your ini files, particularly paying attention to the Cell Buffer ints and the preloadSizeLimit, and threading? A couple of things to try; ditch the d3d9.dll replacement as it's out of date. Now I'm going to go over some things that have worked for me, with no promises that they will work for you. Get RadeonPro. Completely disable AA and Aniso in the game settings, then use RadeonPro to configure Catalyst to take over handling that. Disable Project Reality. Then do a performance test. Edit: Also, use RadeonPro to force triple-buffering. Edited February 3, 2013 by Xaranth
AlbinoPolarBear
Yes, I have tweaked my ini file. I increased the cell buffers and preloadSizeLimit. I enabled things like ThreadedAI, ThreadedBlood etc... Nothing helps.I will try the things you suggested when I get home.
AlbinoPolarBear
I tried the things you suggested, but nothing worked. I also just noticed that my CPU usage is around 1 - 6% when I'm playing New Vegas... What. Is there a fix for this?
Xaranth
Possibly not. Do something else, though. Try disabling ALL your mods and run a benchmarking session. Say start in the Repconn test site basement and run through it, out the wasteland exit, and back through the test site to the basement exit. Then run the same session with all mods enabled and compare. It may turn out that your issue is mod-related. Some can be heavily taxing.
AlbinoPolarBear
I did some tweaking and managed to get my CPU usage to ~40%.I checked my GPU usage too and it was around 30%... That's probably why my FPS is so low. Is there a fix for low GPU usage? I've heard it's a common problem with this game. EDIT:I disabled Project Reality. Now I'm getting 60 FPS. nivea
Project Reality is well known to kill FPS, only the higher computers can really handle it in all its glory.
