CHollman82
I have this bug where whenever I have a source of light (magelight, candlelight, torches, etc) I get areas of the ground or buildings switching between lit and unlit by those light sources depending on which angle I am viewing them from... just watch the video, you'll see.I disabled all of my mods, including enbseries by renaming d3d9.dll (confirmed disabled by the enb text not showing up in the upper left corner when the game started) and it still did the exact same thing. This is driving me nuts, this happens all over the place not just by the thieves guild entrance that I show in the video... I have't been playing the game because of this. Jodi79
maybe a conflict (post list of mods), but could be a corruption. In second case you can fix it by a fresh installation of skyrim and mods. Remember that some mods hasn't to be downloaded\updated with NMM, because it could corrupt them.. so read the description, where normally it is said (onestly i prefer to use it never, to avoid risk, i use TES mod manager, but just taste matter) another cause could be problem with load order(BOSS?) but really i don't think so P.s. obviously i'm assuming that you have all hardware requisite and that you have not played with graphic setting... ^^ Edited February 4, 2013 by Jodi79

I disabled most of them that could have any effect on lighting with no success. Is there an easy way to copy the list of them and paste it into a message? I want to give it to you because I really want to fix this but there are too many to write out, lol. My hardware is an i5-3570k @ 4.5ghz, 8gb DDR3, and a Radeon HD 7870. Download and run BOSS, copy/paste the BOSS log generated (the one with the load order and messages), enclose in a spoiler tag so it won't clutter the screen. I disabled ALL of my mods and deleted skyrimprefs.ini and skyrim.ini and let the game generate new ones. I had to start a new game since my save would not load without my old mods, even after all this I still have the same problem in the same location. Could someone else see if they have this same problem in their game? Is it a bug with the vanilla game? I'm just going to give up on skyrim if no one knows how to solve this, it's a great game but it's also a buggy POS even without mods. I can't play if I can't use light sources and I can't use light sources with this bug without driving myself mad.

If a mod installed resources, for example, texture or mesh replacers intended to override base game assets, disabling the esp will not prevent those resources from being loaded (unless you are using the Mod Organizer). However, by posting your BOSS log and listing any mods you are using which may not come with an esp, you will be able to provide some indication to others as to what you are running, and thus make it easier to diagnose the issue. .... AKcelsior
I hate to say it but your problem will persist. This is a common bug in every bethesda game since at least FO3. There is an engine limitation that only allows around 4 light sources to act on any object in the game world before glitches occur. This problem is exasperated by mods that add more lights and mods that change weather/lighting. Those mods are NOT THE CAUSE however, they just tend to make a sore thumb stick out more. Simply put, you are about 3 years late on your query and there is nothing you can do to fix it.
