I'm Trying Something New: No Mods!

I "completed" Skyrim a couple of times before I started using mods. That way I really got a feeling for what was missing, what I would like to change, what I would like to remove, etc. This allows me to spend less time modding the game and have a bigger appreciation for the mods that I do use, since they weren't just installed on a whim, but I really felt like I needed them.

So I say: Do it. Play vanilla. Get a feeling for what you REALLY need mods for. Write it down if that helps. Don't start modding them right away. Keep playing vanilla for a while. You have to get used to vanilla again before you can fairly judge it. For example, create a warrior, a mage and a thief/assassin character and play through their respective factions, the main quest and the civil war quest at least once. If you have the DLCs, play through those too. (TIP: Do this on Adept difficulty or lower, so you don't need to grind levels before you can do any of this) If after all this you look at your list and see some things that you wrote down earlier, but now actually got used to and realised it's not so bad, then just scratch them off the list.

I realise this is a very minimalistic approach to modding and it might not suit those that don't actually like Skyrim at all and want to mod every aspect of it until they essentially end up with a completely different game. However, this minimalistic approach might be the answer to those who feel they spend too much time modding and too little time playing the game.

Nope nope nope.

Wouldn't even play DB until I finished updating SkyRe/Reproccer to handle it.

About to jump into CK today to see if I can make a sword with the Bloodskal blade enchant work properly.... because that is honestly my favorite thing from the DLC.

I am a modder and I will never go back.

I did play through the game on my friend's Xbox originally, so I know what the vanilla experience is like. And mods are much better.
