zantariz
Okay, so this probably ranks up there in dumb ideas like drinking snake venom... but here we go.... I got a quest to go kill a Giant... which I did, but after I killed the giant i noticed this giant club laying nearby. It wasn't the club the giant was carrying. If I hovered over the one the giant was carrying I just got the loot option like usual. This club was just laying there. How neat would it be to bring that mighty club home with me?? AWESOME!! Unfortunately, it wouldn't let me pick it up... I could move the item, just not take it. So I thought I'd be clever and have my follower pick it up... which they gladly did. However, the item appears nowhere in their inventory, so I cannot remove it. The thing must be mighty heavy because now I can't give my follower anything because their weight allowance is completely hogged by this gigantic club their holding in some hidden orifice... don't ask.... So please... how do I go about gettting rid (or more favorably gain ownership of) this giant bone club? I know there must be a console command to help me with this. Plastrader
What if you drop the console.tildeclick your followertype: showinventorypress enter Does it list an item you don't recognize? If it does, like001243b2 Giant awesome club Still in the console, type:player.additem 001243b2 1Press enter Having your follower still selected.Type:removeitem 001243b2 1Press enter. When done, click tilde again. Please note that 001243b2 is just something I made up. Reference Btw, lol!holding in some hidden orifice... don't ask.... zantariz
Thanks for the advice. Apparently I have no idea what I'm doing. When I type "showinventory" nothing happens. I've also tried openactorcontainer 1, openactorcontainer 2, openactorcontainer 3, and openactorcontainer 4 as suggested in another location, but those commands didn't do anything either. Plastrader
Thanks for the advice.*snip*Wasn't much of an advice if it didn't work hehe! Maybe I was a bit unclear on how to select your follower. Whilst having the console open.Move the cursor over the follower and click him/her. Then you'll see in the middle of the screen, for example:000A2C94If your follower happens to be Lydia. zantariz
Okay... so I finally got it to work :) I don't know what I did wrong last night because I thought I tried showinventory 000c3a99, but I guess maybe I had only tried the openactorcontainer commands with the actor id. Anyway, the showinventory gave me a LONG list of inventory and I couldn't figure out how to scroll up in the console window to find the item. So I exited the console and removed all visible items and did it again. This time I received the list of default items they use when they have no provided equipment... which included..... GIANT CLUB! (000CDEC9). So then I was able to use the removeitem to remove it from her inventory and player.additem to add it to my own inventory. So not surprisingly the item did not show up anywhere in my inventory just like it didn't show up in Lydia's, but I was able to use player.equipitem to equip it... to a rather amusing end. See attached screen capture... serious LOL!! Also, by the way... this may be interesting to anyone who cared enough to read my post... :) When I did a showinventory on Lydia after removing all visible items, it looks like she has 20 hunting bows on her. I assume what happened is that a hunter bow is one of her default weapons when she is not provided any and that any hunting bows I've added to her inventory or had her pick up have stacked with that default (non-visible) item, which theoretically artificially reduces her carrying capacity. However... I am making an assumption here based on an unknown. I assume when it says 1 - Steel Shield is means 1 x Steal Shield and when it says 20 - Hunting Bow it means 20 x Hunting Bows. I make this assumption because she has 1 - for all her armor and before I removed all the visible items the showinventory had xx - numbers that seems to correspond to the number of soul gems etc. she was carrying. So it's probably worth checking your followers and making sure they aren't carrying around extra hidden baggage.
zantariz
I'm not sure what happened to the image I attempted to attach to my previous post. Perhaps it requires system scanning prior to posting... or maybe i'm just an idiot and didn't do something right... that is more likely the case.... Plastrader
Glad to read that you got it to work. :) For future reference. Some of the console commands are targetted as described in the uesp link I provided earlier.showinventory is one of them. I assume when it says 1 - Steel Shield is means 1 x Steal Shield and when it says 20 - Hunting Bow it means 20 x Hunting Bows. I make this assumption because she has 1 - for all her armor and before I removed all the visible items the showinventory had xx - numbers that seems to correspond to the number of soul gems etc. she was carrying. zantariz
There are a lot of follower mods that try to fix this "problem" but I haven't found any that persistently removes them from the inventory.* *Except one. It seems like it might be a good idea to give the follower default kit (hidden) items their own special item IDs so that player obtainable world items wouldn't ever stack with those other items.
