Figuring out how to remove part of a mod correctly

Hello, I am fairly new to modding but I can follow directions well, so I could use any help that you could possibly provide.

I am using EnhancedCharacterEdit v0.85 (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12951) which for some reason includes a custom race (Ygnord) along with a RaceCompatibility ESM and BSA. I have been running the game for a while with these. However, I have been reading about the importance of not overloading the game with unnecessary scripts and mods. RaceCompatibility is unnecessary for me, because I never will use a custom race, so I would like to remove it and its associated scripts.

I am wondering how I can go about removing JUST the RaceCompatibility pieces of this mod, while keeping EnhancedCharacterEdit installed. I have deleted the RaceCompatibility ESM and BSA. and this causes Skyrim to crash instantly (I don't even have the chance to load my game). So I instead just disabled RaceCompatibility.esm, and the game runs fine.

Why would disabling the ESM allow my game to run fine, but deleting the files causes it to crash instantly? Does this involve missing scripts that SKSE is attempting to find? Well, I am leaving everything fully installed and enabled until I receive an answer, just in case disabling it could lead to more problems.

Thank you for any help. If there are already any articles that would help me with this general sort of problem, you could just link me to them instead of helping me with my specific problem... I just do not even know where to begin with this.

The RaceCompatibility esm is probably a 'master' to the ERE eps, so the game looks for the RC esm when it loads ERE, and CTD when at launch when it can't find it.

I don't use ERE, but it's a fairly popular mod and I don't think it's going to cause problems (you should enable the BSA as well, though). You can use TES5Edit to strip out the custom race records from the ERE esp and also remove it's dependency on RC, but it's only suggested if you have experience with TES5Edit and know how to do this without generating error records. Otherwise I recommend you leave it be. Were you experiencing some issues that precipitated your removal of RC?

Well I do not have experience with TES5Edit, so I guess I will leave it as-is. I have no issues with the game, I am just paranoid after seeing all of the problems people have had with scripts messing up their save game, so I wanted to remove any unnecessary things that I have installed, such as this.

Thank you for replying!

@ripple I have a similar issue but I wanted to have ordinator and path of sorcery I understand that they are compatable but I only want the enchanting from path of sorcery and nothing else. Tes5edit seems like the best way to go about this but I wanted to know if someone could tell me how I would do it with tes edit or direct me to where I could learn
