CyberLogic
OK So I'm really at my witts end here. I love the Elder Scrolls series and have used and worked with mods for Morrowind and Oblivion extensively for years without issue. Over the last 4-5 months or so I've finally taken up modding Skyrim. I am using the same techniques I learned when modifying the other games. Like installing mods one at a time to make sure they work and test them for a bit to ensure they don't cause CTD's. Using Bash, NMM, BOSS etc all things I'm familiar with and have no issues doing. I am careful to not install mods that could possibly conflict with each other (ie 2 follower mods) and read descriptions very carefully to ensure I don't use any mods that have been identified to conflict with the mod I am installing. Yet at least 10 times over the last 4-5 months I get 10-30 hours into a game and then it just starts to CTD like crazy and becomes unplayable. I've made sure it's not an issue with save files getting to large or anything.. my saves dont even get over 10mb. So over the last month or so I've taken the approach to install one mod... literally play the game from a save point I have for 1 hour or so... always doing the same thing during that hour...ie following the same path... killing the mobs that pop along that path, etc. If I play that whole hour without CTD then I figure it's a good mod... I quit. Install a new mod. Get back into the game, load up that same save point I always start from and progress from there for approx 1 hr... if no crash add another mod and so on. So I thought this sounded like a good plan... but no it didn't help at all. Cause eventually when I did add a mod that caused a CTD I of course removed it... tried that game without that mod and what do you know... another CTD... so then I keep going back farther and farther and eventually the CTD's stop... but then I add those same mods again and no CTD"s... until a random amount of time has passed.... then i start getting CTD's again... it's making this amazing game simply unplayable for me... it's driving me crazy. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I may be doing wrong or what I could try to get this resolved? Also when I mention CTD's above the exact thing that happens is I will be traveling in the outside world and out of knowhere the game just instantly closes and I'm at the desktop... on some occasions I know it's going to happen a few second before it occurs because the game gets pretty laggy. I do not currently have anything like Deadly spell impacts installed that would leave large amounts of objects in the world that may cause a crash. All ideas welcome! Just to help with any thoughts... this is a list of the mods I currently have installed and I am still getting CTD's. I of course use many other mods but have had all of them disabled all month in an effort to try to figure this out. Currently these are the ones I've activated and tested one at a time and am now out of knowhere getting CTDs. arnoldvsthegooch
Do you change the timescale? I was having trouble with my saves when I changed the timescale.
CyberLogic
Do you change the timescale? I was having trouble with my saves when I changed the timescale. Thanks for your response. Yes I do... I change my timescale to 8 every time I start a new game. I usually don't start experiencing CTD's until 10-30 hours of playtime after that though... but I do like your idea here... I'll try resetting the timescale and see if that helps anything.
