Editing Breezehome with HearthFires

Hi there guys,

I realize the questions I'm about to ask are probably really stupid but here goes:

First off let me say that my modding experience is quite limited. I've only done mods for myself so far but after succesfully creating some player homes for myself, changing armor and weapon properties and creating a few NPCs (simple guards and merchants), I've decided to go ahead and give my first "public" mod a try.

Now my plan is to beautify the existing player homes by switching floors and walls so they don't look broken anymore, removing spider webs and straw aswell as ugly clutter flying around, switch some furniture, etc. I started with Breezehome about a week ago and I'm almost done. After running into some trouble with removing the purchasable upgrades from the house I redid the mod and just moved all the purchasables out of the house instead of deleting them, as was suggested by a tutorial I found on the internet.

Now yesterday I figured my mod would pretty much be useless if I didn't include the changes made by HearthFires dlc (in particular the childrens' rooms) and so today I wanted to edit those in. I loaded hearthfires and skyrim in the creation kit and opened my Breezehome cell and there is a s*** ton of markers floating about for the bard and the child. My question is, having (re)moved pretty much all the furniture in Breezehome, can I just let the markers stay were they are or will that cause my bard (and/or) child to get stuck in place?

Also, I was planning on making my changes the new purchasable upgrades. Since I've already had problems with removing the existing ones though, I'm very cautious about this. Is there a safe way to completely remove the vanilla purchasables so stuff won't be floating around in the house ingame and can i just link my additions to the existing quest markers that were there for the vanilla purchasables?

I hope you guys can help me

Hello! I'm not the most experience modder myself, but I have poked around the Hearthfires Breezehome in the creation kit enough to notice a few things you might want to look for. (maybe a more experienced modder can either verify or correct me on this). First, I think as long as the new objects (furniture, etc.) that you've placed in the cell aren't obstructing the Hearthfire markers (any more than Bathesda's version of the cell does), then I think you should be OK.

The other thing I suggest looking at is the child's beds and the dining room table. If you intend to keep a child's room and replace the beds, you'll have to change the ownership of the new beds to match the original ones. (otherwise, it may affect the way adopted children use them). Also, under the "Location Reference" tab on the dining room table you will see it is set to BYOHAdoption_ChildDiningTable (or something like that).

There may be other objects that are affected by the Hearthfire DLC. Just look on the original objects and go through the tabs to see how they are set up. If you've already deleted the original objects (like the beds, for instance) you could create a new mod with Hearthfires to use as reference (I would create a new mod and save with a new name. You don't want to poke around the master esm file incase you accidentally change something and then accidentally save)

Hope that helps.
