Dirt Roads have disappeared...from all of Skyrim

Hi there,

So I've been making my own house in Skyrim and I recently started working on the exterior. Something went wrong though.

For some reason, Dirt roads don't exist anywhere in Skyrim apart from my house (Northeast of Ivarstead). Is it possible to accidentally delete textures from everywhere? Is it best copying all my stuff into a new mod to try and reset the exterior?

Another strange thing has been happening since I made the house.

By default, the map marker for my house is always visible and can be fast travelled to right from the start of a new game. But since I've done this, tonnes of VERY difficult enemies appear in random places (A thieves guild guy attacks right near riverwood...at level 1. Three orc marauders appear on the path to Bleak falls barrow (at level 1 again). Also, right outside of Riverwood is a free horse for absolutely no reason I can think of. I am running a lot of mods but BOSS isn't showing any problems with them all.

Is it possible for map markers to somehow affect how things are placed/spawned?

(No screens. Not at my home PC)

Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you made some unintentional edits while you are modding the esp. If you have TES5Edit, open up your mod's esp and check out the records to see if there are any edits that should not be there.

Thanks for the tip. Tried TES5Edit but nothing changed when I tried to clean it. Considering I'm kinda new to the CK, is it possible to copy my interior into a different mod file and ignore the exterior so I can start from scratch without having to build a house again?

Yes, using TES5Edit. You can copy what you want as override records into a new esp. Cleaning the esp won't help if you've made some unintentional edits in the CK because the cleaning process involves removing identical to master entries (which won't affect entries containing edits you may have unintentionally made) and undeleting/disable deleted references. You will need to have some familiarity with reading plugin records in TES5Edit to determine what records are the things you intended to change and what are stuff you may have edited unintentionally.

In your case, if your edits are in an interior cell that you created and does not overlap with any default game interior cells or the worldspace (other than maybe to alter the navmesh slightly so NPC followers will go through the entrance to you house), then your esp should contain no modifications to default game cells and should not show any conflicting records (other than the worldspace edit you made). So you can try deleting any record you see in the esp that appears as a modification of default game records, and see if the problems go away (check the box that allow TES5Edit to make backups of the esp's you edit so you have something to go back to if necessary).

I had a look into using the TES5Edit but I couldn't get very far with it. My mods are very clean now but I still had dirt road issues with my house. Decided to do it all again but the results are that the dirt roads are back. Thanks for your help.
