ArchAngelAlien
I just needed to get that off my chest and rant to somebody. This is frustrating, but I have cleaned all my plugins. I removed identical to master files, and undeleted references (Or W/e it's called) to everything. I have been speaking back and forth with two mod authors that make compatibility patches with Reproccer as I seem to be getting some errors of weapon animations getting deleted. Such as refined silver weapons (Not sure which mod these are from, but I might have to edit these by hand) DLC01 (A new patch was released that should clean these up now) and a mod called crossbow basic collection. (One of the authors is making a patch for this). I appreciate your help, I just.. needed to breath and take a break. I work from home, so I am able to work on this for hours on end nearly everyday. It just feels like I am getting nowhere. I feel like I am going to get this all straightened out and load the game and it's just going to crash again. I wish all these mods authors would create a package together, and charge donations for a download or something. Like a big immersive mod package that is maintained by them all for people who donate to enjoy. (Or something along those lines) I would pay for it in a heart beat. I appreciate all the hard work people have done, but it just feels like I have to be a modder myself to understand this. You are right, this is all due to my own actions, too many mods = alot more work. On top of that Nexus Mod Manager does not display conflicting files, so if I was to make my own comparability patches, I have no information to see what files are conflicting besides doing some research. One mod I use that doesn't play well with others is SkyRE, but I cannot find any real solid information on what mods I shouldn't use with it. I should of never casted MO to the side so quickly, but it was just another few days learning a new program, rather than playing. If I cannot get this sorted I will reinstall Skyrim fresh ( for the 4th time) and download Dragonborn and try MO again. For now.. I am just here reading things again and not sure which step to take. I really would like to know why this mod is giving me these errors. ripple
It's understandable. We've all been there, banging out heads trying to figure out just WTF is wrong with our load order. It's basically -the- motivation for learning about load orders and reading plugin records. Making your own compatibility patch is how many users 'ease' into creating their own mods. It's not something you need to worry about right now if there are too many things on your plate. I only suggested it because it seemed like you were doing a bit of research and hadn't started a 'serious playthrough' just yet.I really recommend MO, it's the 'next step' for managing mods. All previous mod managers from OBMM right up to NMM have been basically tools for automating the manual install of mods into the game data folder, which meant constant overwriting of loose files and loose scripts. MO uses a 'virtual data folder' so you no longer have to reinstall Skyrim to 'clean out left behind files' since the default game data folder will always be untouched (unless you manually install something into it). The only thing with MO is that it does take a bit of time to get use to, first because of the different 'architecture' and GUI, and second because you need to set up external utilities to run through MO so they will scan the 'virtual data folder' rather than the default game data folder. Fortunately, there's is now an 'intro video tutorial' by deathneko (which I don't think was available when you first tried MO).I feel obligated to warn you that your modded Skyrim will CTD, no matter what you do. But the idea is that if you can mitigate and resolve as many issues beforehand, the CTDs will be infrequent and a 'manageable level.' I have 150 or so plugins in my set up, and CTDed maybe 4 or 5 times in the last month (average out to maybe 2-4 hours a day of play). I consider that 'manageable' as long as I save often. But I gather you already know all of this and isn't expecting an entirely CTD free game.QuoteI wish all these mods authors would create a package together, andcharge donations for a download or something. Like a big immersive modpackage that is maintained by them all for people who donate to enjoy. This has been done in the past for the other Bethesda games (charging money notwithstanding, since modders can't do that). For Oblivion, there was FCOM, which was basically a giant compatibility patch for a number of 'overhaul mods' plus some additional content. There are many of these sorts of mods for Fallout 3 and NV. For example, FOOK2 for Fallout 3 or NVEC for Fallout NV that includes over a hundreds mods (I think including 2 of mine) with additional bug fixes and enhancements by the author, which is basically also a giant compatibility patch. The problem is that these 'overhaul mods' are a nightmare to maintain, almost always conflict with most of the mods out there (because of the scope of their edits and modifications), requiring constant updates (pretty much any time one of the mods they included updated) and compatibility patches to run with other 'big mods' (typically contributed by users made via xxxxEdit), and the authors end up spending countless hours troubleshooting individual load order setups, bugs generated by the mods they included which they have to wait for the original mod authors to fix, and dealing with ungrateful users who complain about X features they do not like and want to be removed, or Y features they want added. From the 'design side' of things, it was incredibly aggravating for the modders and a terrible time sink. The Skyrim modding scene has attempted to 'streamline' this process by developing things like SkyProc based utilities instead of messy manually made giant patches that are more likely to lead to conflicts with various individual load orders. It's a more intelligent approach, just not 'new user friendly.' Edited February 13, 2013 by ripple
ArchAngelAlien
I am at the point where I need to make sure I have no more Reproccer errors for weapons, then move on and create a batch patch combined level list. I've heard this is actually quite easy to do. One thing I do not understand is which mods have level lists, and can I just combine them all? I have not touched Wyre Bash much, so I could probably answer my own questions with a bit of reading and use of the program. If I could manage a few CTDs every few hours, I would be fine with that. It's when I walk into a building, and i crashes and I cannot go into that building no matter what is when it's unacceptable. I don't want the mods to ever make it so I cannot partake in all the content. If it crashes here and there due to some scripts, then that's acceptable if I can continue on with the game. So basically atm I am just trying to sort Reproccer and install the patches and patch my weapons correctly. Afterwards I will move onto making a batch patch after I look over my mod list and see if I can spare anything. After I create a batch patch for level lists I will begin a playthrough that will be specifically for testing. I will try all these mods first hand and see what I enjoy, and what I can live without. Remove the excess, re-batch patch and reproccer if I need to, and finally enjoy the game. One question I have is that I have steered away from using ENB's for use of things like Night eye, and Gopher's Predator Vision. It seems like if you are using the ENB's Post processing methods in the ENB.ini file, you cannot enjoy these overlays or spells that require post processing. Is there anyway around this? ENBs make the game amazing, but they don't seem to really be that functional with everything in the game. It wouldn't be a big deal if I didn't play a female Kahjiit that uses Night Eye and may become a vampire later.
ripple
I am at the point where I need to make sure I have no more Reproccer errors for weapons, then move on and create a batch patch combined level list. I have not touched Wyre Bash much, so I could probably answer my own questions with a bit of reading and use of the program.Bashed Patch generation is automated, so you don't need to worry about which mod contain leveled lists edits (the bash tags for the plugins is what informs Wrye Bash which mods have those lists and what to do with them). I think I posted a link to the steps for generating (what boxes need to be ticked or unticked) a couple of pages ago. If you have BOSS and Wrye Bash installed, when you run Wrye Bash, all of the plugins that BOSS has flagged as mods containing leveled lists edits will be tagged accordingly. If you just can't get Wyre Bash to work for some reason, there is another alternative for automating the merging of leveled lists, but I'd rather not go there until you've exhausted all options for Wrye Bash because it does this much more intuitively and intelligently than the alternative. Also, I don't use SkyRe, but my understanding is that the ReProccer and the Bashed Patch are separate entities, which is to say that one needs to be unchecked in the load order while the other is being rebuilt. I could be wrong, best to double check with other ReProccer users. [edit] Oh, also Wrye Bash v303 seems buggy for some users. Go to the Google code page for Wrye Bash and look for v302 instead. Use that until v304 moves out of beta.If I could manage a few CTDs every few hours, I would be fine with that. It's when I walk into a building, and i crashes and I cannot go into that building no matter what is when it's unacceptable. I don't want the mods to ever make it so I cannot partake in all the content. If it crashes here and there due to some scripts, then that's acceptable if I can continue on with the game. Let's aim for one CTD every few days. Although keep in mind that even though my '150 plugins' list may sound somewhat 'large', I do not use any of the usual culprits for CTDs like Warzones, SkyTest, or popular script intensive mods like Wet' n Cold, Footprints, and have no 'overhaul mods' (unless you count 'Automatic Variants'), so your 'mileage' might differ. If you are very careful about what mods you install, maintaining a stable load order after the initial pain of setting it up should not be difficult. As for ENB, I am not sure. I use plain FXAA + the Imaginator. Edited February 13, 2013 by ripple
ArchAngelAlien
Still on the ReProccer stages of setting up. I have about 6 files for Reproccer for patches, and I have no idea how to run them. I have to ask them via the mod chat, but it usually takes a few hours to get a response. You have to check things and run the Reproccer, then disable them afterwards? Bleh, *Rubs temple*. I've noticed Wet and Cold and Footprints have alot of scripts running. But they are just too awesome not to use. It's like candy, they offer you the tastiest candy ever, but if you eat too much of it you get sick. ArchAngelAlien
I read your previous pages, and got into Wyre. I rebuilt my bashed patch, and only included leveled lists and left the process to an automatic status. The included screenshot is what I did. Is this correct? http://i.imgur.com/7ze4Clc.jpg
ripple
Looks alright. Also tick 'merge patches' when rebuilding the Bashed Patch. Wrye Bash will then merge esp's containing only minor edits into the Bashed Patch, then automatically disable them so there are fewer plugins loaded when you start the game (in Wrye Bash, esp's whose changes have been merged into the Bashed Patch will be green and have a plus symbol beside them). For the unrecognized plugins, I recognize 2 of them: Crossbows_Basic_Collection_EN_LL.esp - was moved to the section with my other custom weapon mods.I've tried several crossbow mods, so I've lost track of which is which, but if this is the one I think it is, you can pretty much load it any where in the load order, as it uses a script to insert new leveled lists for crossbow distribution to respawning NPCs and contain no possible conflicts with other plugins. I'd compare it to the other plugins in your load order in TES5Edit just to be sure. RND_RWLReduced-Patch.esp - got moved under my other RND patches, this one just seems to be lacking BOSS support.Make sure you are using the 'Reduced loot' version of RWL, as this is the patch for that. If you are using the standard version of RWL, you'll need the standard RWL version of the RND patch. Edited February 13, 2013 by ripple
ArchAngelAlien
Okay, well I opened my game and tested and am experiencing CTDs every 45 seconds. It happens only when I move into Markath atm, as this is where I was experiencing other issues. I have a strange feeling it's because of a texture mod, but I am not sure. Also when I load racemenu and switch to females it will instantly crash 8/10. When I can get it working, switching between female races causes a near instant CTD. ripple
Why do you suspect it's a texture mod?
ArchAngelAlien
<p>Well, I run alot of them. And why would females be crashing when switching? I know there is scripts running in the background, such as Gopher's Predator vision will run a script when you switch races to enable the night eye effect for the set race, but it doesn't crash for males.</p><p> </p><p>Whenever I switch to females, it nearly instantly crashes in RaceMenu, yet in the game world they all load fine. I think before I start disabling mods with scripts, I disable all my texture mods, and see if that remedies the problem. I run alot of them.</p><p> </p><p>IT may not be the case. My log is full of scripts for my weapon skeleton placements. I really hope that isn't the issue because the game is not worth playing without my custom skeleton placements imo. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>-----------------------</p><p>Edit</p><p> </p><p>Also I am getting wierd performance issues outside Skyrim. I run my PC with 4 monitors, but I am only running Syrim on 1. I have noticed shadows behaving badlly, my screens acting like the mouse cursor is placed on them. This could be an issue with my external graphics setting as well. But I doubt it. </p> Edited February 13, 2013 by ArchAngelAlien
