CTD in an area

Yes it's another CTD thread.. I seem to be getting CTDs in the area around the bleak falls barrows exit.. north of riverwood.. the CTD happens anywhere around the lake and just now it happened after i exited the barrows so i couldnt even fast travel

Is this a known bug with a fix? Or could it be a mod problem.. I can't think of any mod that can be doing this except maybe climates of tamriel conflicting with a weather in that area?

Hope this is what you meant.. just copied the whole plug in message:

Recognized-

(please note i have deselected 2 of the cloaks like instructed but it shows all 3)

Other things you might want to know.. Graphically it's running stable and good FPS on ultra settings, quite surprising as my graphics card is a GeForce GT 630 which is said to only manage medium, but i have the 2GB version so thats possibly why.

Quadcore Phenom II CPU(3.4ghz)

8GB RAM (32bit windows so most of that is sleeping)

1) Cleaning: download TES5Edit from that link, follow the instructions on the page, and clean all the plugins flagged by BOSS as containing 'dirty edits' (including the DLCs the patch esm).

2) Maintenance: the 2 optional cloak plugins, since you are not using them, you might as well just remove them from the load order. Even though they are not being loaded because they are disabled, they are being scanned when the game loads and there is no reason to extend your game loading time even by a millisecond. Besides, you are already using the Bashed Patch to integrate it's leveled list edits with the other 'give more items to NPCs' mods you are using.

Warning: Original file was released before the CK (07 Feb. 2012) a compatibility patch fixed and cleaned with TES5Edit can be obtained here. (Compatibility Patch)

Make sure you download and install the updated fix patch for Jaysus swords from that link.

Moonpath to Elseweyr has been reported to cause CTDs and other issues. The author's recommendation, I believe, is to enable it when you want to play it and uninstall it after completing the quest.

Make sure you have updated.

3) CTDs and stability: Two 'types' of mods tend to be the usual culprits for random CTDs. The first are mods that add edits the worldspace (often to add more spawns and/or spawn points). I don't recognize some of the mods in your load order, so I can't say which one might be one of this type of mods. But if most or all of your CTDs have been outdoors, then consider removing those types of mods to stabilize your load order. If I have to wager, I would say this is more likely to be the cause of your random CTDs than the other issues mentioned here.

The other type of mod that stresses the game engine are mods with continually updating scripts (e.g. Wet n' Cold, Footprints, CoT, etc.). A couple of those are fine. More than that and they start to tax the game engine no matter how powerful your rig might be. Keep in mind that Skyrim can only utilize 2 CPU cores at most (and not very well at that).

4) The unrecognized plugins: their loading position will need to be arranged manually. They go to the bottom of the load order after you run BOSS, which means if they contain conflicts with the other plugins in your load order, they win. This can't be allowed to happen, at least not without checking the esp's in TES5Edit to see if they contain conflicting records. If they do, you'll have to decide who should 'win' and arrange their load order position accordingly. If they do not conflict with other mods, then you can load them anywhere above your compatibility patches (e.g. Bashed Patch). After you've decided on their load order position, you can use the 'BOSS Userlist Manager' to set custom rules for them so their load order position is not reset every time you run BOSS.

firstly i made a mistake yesterday.. the place i was getting the crash and the falkreath hearthfire place are actually the same place i was just coming at them from different angles so didn't realise lol..

secondly.. as i got my latest CTD when i got close to the falkreath land plot i thought it must be something to do with it so then i googled.. turns out a lot of people have this same problem.. on approach of the land plot you CTD.. it conflicts with the "Places" set of mods..so i will try those.. but yea it seems most likely to be the cause of the CTD's they are too consistant in that area.. i can 100% reproduce the CTD in that area and no-where else i have yet visited in the game

i will keep you updated.. will also post how i fixed it, if i did, just in case anyone else with my problem somehow manages to stumble onto this thread

UPDATE:

Yey fixed!! it was the places mods:

oakwood and another one can't remember the name.. although i unsubscribed from them the esp's didnt deactivate so i thought it hadnt worked but i checked just now and deactivated them and no CTD :)

I am also having major CTD issues, i noticed in BOSS that Dragonborn, Hearthfire, Dawnguard have dirty edits, here are the BOSS Logs

just looked through your mods.. you don't have any of the mods installed that conflict with hearthfire but you have a lot of retexturing stuff.. if you're running a 32bit system your pc could be running out of ram and closing correct me if i am wrong anyone.. if you're on 64 that suggestion is moot

also is HQ snow the snow that is falling from the sky or the snow on the ground.. because if its the snow on the ground it might clash with better dynamic snow..

find that on nexus

i also found that the flora overhaul used a lot of ram especially if your draw distance is high

..

i am no expert on mods though.. so don't take my suggestions as solutions
